Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
The narrow road refers to following Jesus on His terms. It's the path of surrender, obedience, and holiness, meaning choosing what God says is right even when it's hard, unpopular, or costly. This path is marked by repentance, faith, humility, love, and daily dependence on Him. The wide road, on the other hand, refers to living life your own way, which is the path of self-direction, compromise, and following the crowd. It may look easier, more comfortable, and more accepted by the world, but it's marked by doing whatever feels good, avoiding conviction, and ignoring God's call. In Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus isn't saying you earn salvation by being good enough; He's saying true faith shows up as a life that follows Him, even when the road is narrow. Jesus is saying, the path of following Him isn't always easy or popular, but it leads to real life with God. For daily Christian life, this means choosing obedience over convenience, staying faithful in small things like prayer, honesty, and kindness, even when no one notices, and trusting the narrow road, which may feel lonely at times but leads to peace, purpose, and eternal life. The wide road is easy but empty. The narrow road is hard but it leads home. 🙏
