🌟 A historic and joyful day at St Davids Cathedral 🌟

Llongyfarchiadau to Bishop Dorrien, who has been formally installed as Dean of the Royal Chaplaincy for Wales during a special Accession Day service at St Davids Cathedral.

The occasion brought together worship, tradition and community, with the Yeomen of the Guard in attendance and children from Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi helping to wave off the procession from Cross Square with flags and bunting.

It was a very special day for the Diocese of St Davids, and a significant moment for the Church in Wales as the new Royal Chaplaincy for Wales begins its work.

“It is a huge privilege and a great honour to have been appointed by His Majesty The King as Dean of the Royal Chaplaincy for Wales.” said Bishop Dorrien

Diolch yn fawr iawn to everyone who helped make the day such a memorable one. There will be many more photos to come!

Christianity Explored was due to start on Saturday. Unfortunately, our Curate, Jeremy Stone, who is leading the course is still in Indonesia! You may have seen that a volcano is erupting at the moment and the airports were shut for a few days. Hopefully Jeremy will return by the weekend, but we will have to postpone the start of the course.

Look out for the new start date! If you would like to get information on the course directly to you, DM to speak to the Vicar.

The first thing that will happen is you will be welcomed! And then given an order of service (like at a wedding), a hymn book (don’t worry- the music is led) and a sheet with the day’s Bible readings (so they are easy to follow) and community news on.

You can sit where you like, or you can ask the welcomer to introduce you to someone.

The Sunday service is a (slightly strange!) family meal. Just like if you go to someone else’s house for a meal the first time they do things differently, or have their quirks, so it is with a church service. The first time it can feel “what is happening?” Very soon you will recognise the patterns. And other people will be very happy to explain what is happening or what to do- just ask!

The best thing is to just give it a try! And why not give it a try at St Gwyndaf’s Llanwnda at 9.15am this morning?
