📖 New Bible Study Series: Encounters with Jesus ✨
Over recent weeks, our Bible Study / Prayer Meeting group has begun a new series called Encounters with Jesus — exploring moments in the Gospels where ordinary people meet Christ, and discovering how these stories are not only from the past but invitations for us today.
The discussion has been consistently warm, engaging, and far-reaching 💬❤️, as we recognise our own stories and questions within these encounters.
In our first study, we reflected on Jesus meeting a Samaritan woman at a well 💧 (John 4) — a woman who feels weary, vulnerable, and unseen. We watched Jesus cross boundaries, initiate relationship, and stay with her. We saw that being fully known by Him is not a threat but a gift 🎁, and that His truth heals rather than shames.
In our second study, we considered the paralysed man in Capernaum, brought to Jesus by friends who refused to give up 🤲 (Mark 2). Lowered through the roof 🏠, he is met first not with healing, but with forgiveness ❤️ — revealing Jesus as the One who meets our deepest needs and gives far more than we expect. Weakness becomes a place where His glory shines 🌟.
Together, these encounters are teaching us to ask each week:
❓ What does this show us about Jesus?
❓ What does this show us about us?
We are learning that Jesus initiates 🤝, stays 🕊️, sees without shaming 👀, and brings life 🌱 — and that we do not need to become someone else before coming to Him.
Some of the questions we’ve been reflecting on together:
• What stands out to you about this encounter? 👀
• What do you imagine life has been like for this person? 💭
• What’s surprising about the way Jesus treats them? 😮
• What kinds of “thirst” do people carry today? 💧
• Have you ever been carried by someone else’s faith? 🤲
• Why might forgiveness be more important than physical healing? ❤️
• Where might Jesus be gently speaking truth into our own lives? 🪞
Next time, we’ll be exploring Jesus’ famous encounter with Zacchaeus 🌳 — grace that restores.
You are very welcome to join us.
