Yesterday, St Paul's Church in Craig y Don, Llandudno, welcomed the Revd Petra Goodband as it's new Priest-in-Charge and Stephanie O’Hanlon as its Youth, Children and Families’ Worker. St Paul’s will be focussing its mission on outreach to all ages in the community to make St Paul’s an intergenerational church, following investment from the Church in Wales' Growth Fund.

Mae’r Parchedig Nia Catrin Williams wedi’i phenodi’n Ddeon Cadeirlan Bangor ac yn Arweinydd Ardal Weinidogaeth Bro Deiniol. Bydd yn dechrau yn y swydd ym mis Ionawr 2027.

Ar hyn o bryd, Nia yw Arweinydd Ardal Weinidogaeth Bro Beuno Sant Uwch Gwyrfai, ar ôl dychwelyd i Esgobaeth Bangor yn gynharach eleni wedi gwasanaethu fel caplan yn y Lluoedd Arfog. Mae’n olynu’r Gwir Barchedig Manon Ceridwen James, sydd bellach yn Esgob Bangor.

Dywedodd Nia, “Mae’n fraint aruthrol cael fy mhenodi’n Ddeon Cadeirlan Bangor, ac rwy’n edrych ymlaen at ddychwelyd ar ôl gwasanaethu fel Canon dros Genhadaeth a Chaplan y Brifysgol dros ddegawd yn ôl.

“Gan adeiladu ar y gwaith diwygio ac adnewyddu y mae’r Esgob Manon a thimau’r esgobaeth a’r Gadeirlan eisoes wedi’i wneud, hoffwn barhau i ddatblygu’r Gadeirlan yn le o weddi a chroeso i bobl y ddinas, a hefyd yn fam eglwys yr esgobaeth. Byddwn yn gweithio gyda’n gilydd fel cymuned i dyfu’n ddisgyblion a helpu i ddod â’r genhedlaeth nesaf at Grist.”

The Revd Nia Catrin Williams has been appointed Dean of Bangor Cathedral and Ministry Area Leader of Bro Deiniol. She will take up the role in January 2027.

Nia is currently Ministry Area Leader of Bro Beuno Sant Uwch Gwyrfai, having returned to the Diocese of Bangor earlier this year after serving as an Armed Forces chaplain. She succeeds the Rt Revd Manon Ceridwen James, who is now Bishop of Bangor.

Nia says, “It's an enormous privilege to be appointed as Dean of Bangor Cathedral and I'm looking forward to returning after previously serving as Canon Missioner and University Chaplain over a decade ago.

“Building on the reform and renewal already undertaken by Bishop Manon and the diocesan and cathedral teams, I wish to continue to make the Cathedral as a place of prayer and welcome not only for the people of the city but also as the mother church of the diocese, working together as a community to grow as disciples and help bring forward the next generation to Christ.”

Preparations are underway for tomorrow’s Diocesan Conference at St Asaph Cathedral. We look forward to welcoming all conference members from 10.15am for an 11am start.

A new priest will be joining Aberconwy Mission Area as the Priest-in-Charge at St Paul’s Church, Craig-y-Don, in Llandudno. The Revd Petra Goodband will be welcomed at a special service in St Paul’s on Sunday (11 October) at 3.30pm led by the Archdeacon of St Asaph, the Venerable Andy Grimwood. During the service, Stephanie O’Hanlon will be commissioned as the church's Youth, Children and Families’ Worker.

It is an incredible collection of 80 one-metre-long knitted and crocheted scenes, each depicting a moment or aspect of life in Britain during the Second World War.

Evacuation, rationing, the Blitz, the Home Guard, the Land Army, D-Day, VE Day and so much more are brought to life in wool.

And throughout October, you can see it right here in Wrexham.

Two young people from Wrexham have been awarded a scholarship to learn to play the organ at St Giles’ Church in the city.
Jessica and Nataniel are taking weekly lessons with the church’s organist, Chris Pilsbury. Congratulations to them both.
