Introduction to Meditation

Meditation is a method to make our mind peaceful and positive. If our mind is peaceful, we will be free of worries and mental discomfort and experience true happiness and well-being. But if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it difficult to be happy and relaxed even if we are living in the very best conditions.

These classes introduce the art of meditation and offer advice on how to apply Buddha’s teachings to solve our daily problems. The classes begin with a relaxing guided meditation, followed by an inspiring and practical talk and then another guided meditation. Finally there will be time for questions and discussion.

The classes are presented as a short series over several weeks, but each class is self-contained – so you can drop in any time you like. Everyone is welcome regardless of belief; you do not need to be Buddhist to attend. Suitable for everyone, including absolute beginners.

The first class in this series will be on 7 September
Fall Series
7 September – Peaceful meditations
14 September – Loving Kindness
21 September – Transforming our heart
28 September – Getting to know your mind
5th October – Resting in the space of the mind
Everybody is welcome

MEDITATE IN LLANDUDNO

Every Wednesday evening for the next 6 weeks
7-8:30pm

Beginning and making progress in meditation

Meditation is a method to make our mind peaceful and positive. Simple meditations like focussing on our breathing can make us feel calm and relaxed – but only for a short while. To really become a more peaceful, kinder, wiser and happier person we need to learn to look at our life in a different way, change our priorities and to orient our life in a spiritual direction. To help us do this Buddha taught a cycle of contemplations called Lamrim, or the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, which serve to transform our mind from its limited, self-centred and often unhappy state into the infinitely blissful and altruistic enlightened mind. This series of classes is an introduction to this cycle.

Come to any class or come to them all.

2 September – Inner peace through meditation
9 September – A good heart
16 September – A pure mind
23 September – Delusions: the source of all problems
30 September – Self-grasping and the cycle of suffering
7 October – The path to liberation
