✨ This morning we began by turning to one another and saying it out loud: "I am glad you are here this morning." 😊

Then we heard Jesus tell his friends they were the salt of the earth and the light of the world. 🧂💡 He didn't tell them to work at it. He told them what they already were.

That was the heart of our Volunteer Service. We filled one salt cellar together, a pinch at a time, until it was full. That is how it works here. A pinch from you, a pinch from the person beside you, and before long there is enough to season a whole town. 🏘️

So thank you to everyone who serves at LUPC 🙏 the Musicians 🎵, Church Council, 9.30 Worship Teams, Pastoral Visitors, Music 4U, Afternoon Teas ☕, Lego Club 🧱, The Barn and Soul Food 🍲, Stepping Stones, the Eco Congregation Group 🌱, Mission and Outreach, our Stewarding, Streaming 🎥 and Sunday Tea Teams, and the BB and GB.

Some of you were with us this morning. Some of you were on a shift, or under the weather, or simply needed the rest. 💤 You were all held in our prayers, and the same words go to you: we are glad you are here. ❤️

You don't need to become salt and light. You already are. 🧂💡

Sixty years — and what a way to mark it! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for our 60th Anniversary Family Fun Day. The barn was full of chatter, strawberry tarts and biscuits; there were games indoors and archery in the courtyard (some very fine shots, and a few that will stay between us); and in the church our communion silver and memorabilia were laid out alongside photographs from six decades of life together.

It was lovely to see so many generations in the one place — old friends catching up over a cuppa, wee ones running about.

Thank you to everyone who baked, brewed, carried tables, set up, cleared away and kept us all right through the quiz. It takes a great many hands to make a day look that easy.

Sixty years of worship, welcome and friendship in Livingston — and, God willing, plenty still to come. 💙

What a morning at LUPC! 🙌

Our intergenerational service took us into one of the great reunion scenes of the Bible — Joseph, face to face with the brothers who had sold him. Together we wondered about everything swirling around that room: Joseph's tears, the brothers' fear, the guilt, the shock, and then the relief.

Big feelings, all at once — and out of them we talked about forgiveness: what it costs, and the future it opens up for people who thought they'd run out of one.

Don't forget: our 60th birthday celebration is next Saturday, 22 August, 2–5pm — strawberry teas, games indoors and out, photos and memorabilia, and a family quiz to finish. Family and friends all very welcome! 🎉

What a joy this morning! 🎒✨

Our back-to-school intergenerational worship was full of energy, laughter, and good news as we thought about Jesus as our team leader — the one who calls us onto his team, whatever our age, and shows us how to play our part.

At the heart of it all was the story of a wee boy who offered up his packed lunch — five loaves and two fish — and watched Jesus turn it into a feast for more than five thousand people. And here's the best bit: there wasn't just enough... there were baskets of food left over! That's how generous our God is. When we share what we have, however small it seems, Jesus does more with it than we could ever imagine.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. As a new school year begins, may we all head out ready to share what's in our hands and see what God will do with it.
