Looking for something fun to do this half term? We have four sessions of weaving workshops for children taking place at 10am and 2pm on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 May!

This hands-on weaving workshop invites children to discover the ancient craft of weaving, and to create something beautiful of their own.

Led by Mother Anne-Marie, children will learn the basics of weaving using a range of colourful materials, exploring how threads can tell stories just as they do in Jacqui’s extraordinary silk panels.

Each child will leave with their own woven piece to take home as a keepsake.

Suitable for primary school-age children (must be accompanied by an adult at all times). Places are strictly limited — advance booking is essential.

We learned about the uses of the lectern, font, pulpit and altar.
Here are some of their amazing drawings.

WEEK OF GUIDED PRAYER

This would be a wonderful opportunity to explore prayer and to grow closer to God.

What is a Week of Guided Prayer?

• It’s a time of spiritual refreshment with God and prayer, within the context of an ordinary working week.

• Individuals are invited to set apart time for personal prayer each day – half an hour as a suggestion.... from Monday to Friday.

• They may also choose to set aside up to half an hour, Monday to Friday, to meet with a prayer guide, who hopes to listen and encourage each one on their individual prayer journey.

• A team of trained and safely recruited prayer guides drawn from outside of your location is invited to come to spend a week with you, to meet with individuals each day.

• The aims: to grow in prayer; to see where God is working in each life.

• Participants will be encouraged to explore a variety of ways of praying, especially using Scripture.

I have registered initial interest with the diocese for us to be a parish that could host one of these weeks. Please do let me know if you would be interested in participating in a week of guided prayer and meeting with a prayer guide during the week.

Dates and Times to be arranged if enough people from ours and neighbouring parishes interested. Open to anyone from any denomination.

• Individuals are invited to set apart time for personal prayer each day – half an hour as a suggestion.... from Monday to Friday.

Amazing Day at Chester Cathedral visiting "Threads through the Bible". We were privileged to have a tour of the 44 panels with the artist Jacqui Parkinson. Such a joy to hear her speak about these wonderful works of art. We also got to take part in a workshop with Jacqui and created our own angels.

The exhibition runs until 28th June and is free entry when the Cathedral is Open. More info and other events linked to the exhibition can be seen on the Cathedral Website https://chestercathedral.com/events/event/threads-through-the-bible
