St Paul's Church, Croxteth

St Paul's Church, Croxteth The official page of the Parish Church of Saint Paul the Apostle, Croxteth. St Paul's is served by priests of the Society of St Wilfrid and St Hilda.

St Paul's stands firmly in the catholic tradition of the Church of England, loving God and serving the community in the name and for the sake of Jesus, who came "not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." The Mass is the focus of our worship. Whether you come to worship, for private prayer, or just to say hello, a warm welcome awaits you! Sunday

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of St Paul the Apostle Church for public worship. As a congregation we are filled with a great sadness. We are however thankful for the years we have had in this place, and we give thanks for the strong faith, spiritual guidance and special memories we have here.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our congregation, for their unfailing faithfulness, to our friends and clergy who have supported us throughout the years and while this is a difficult time for us as a congregation, we feel the correct choice has been made.

St Paul’s will remain open for mass every Sunday until the end of July when we will close our doors for the final time.

Please if you have a query regarding spiritual care, receiving communion, for prayers or for baptisms, weddings and funerals, please do not hesitate to contact us via the page and we will endeavour to aid you. Measures are being made to ensure the care of our community continues.

With our love and prayers
Jessica and Judy

We would like to dedicate this post to a wonderful lady - Judy Curran.

For those of you who do not know Judy, she is a very dedicated member of our church congregation, she goes above and beyond for our church in every aspect, she has looked after the building and maintenance for the past few years, she arranged the flowers for our mass every Sunday, she was present at every mass each week, made every new member of our congregation and visiting clergy feel welcomed and even provided refreshment for our congregation when the mass was over.

But to us she is still so much more, for the past several years Judy has worked tirelessly for our church as Church warden and while she stepped down from that role, she never stepped down from the responsibilities. We are so grateful for Judy for all the work she has done, especially during the past few weeks.

When we were told to close our doors because of COVID-19 we were deeply saddened and we prayed for the day we could reopen our doors and welcome people back into church. We are finally at that point where we can safely open our doors, however our building had suffered, for the past few weeks Judy, her family and friends have worked so hard to get it ready. A great big thank you to each and every person who helped clean, paint, garden, rearrange furniture and the countless other jobs that I know have been done. Without your hard work and commitment, St Paul’s would have never been able to open on Sunday. You have all worked so so hard and it really has paid off. Judy - none of this would have been possible without your dedication, resilience and commitment to St Paul’s, we are truly blessed and grateful to have you, thank you.

Judy has this message to share:

I would like to thank all the people who volunteered and helped to deep clean our church St Paul the apostle Middle Way croxteth. Without your help I would never have managed the cleaning paintwork and the gardening that needed to be done. To Billy Kev Lisa Susan Andrew David Clare Dave Kenzie Baelie Brec Caitlin and Remi thank you all so much. THIS SUNDAY 6TH JUNE WE WILL CELEBRATE MASS AT 11 O'CLOCK FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MARCH 2020 WHEN WE HAD TO CLOSE DUE TO COVID 19. EVERYONE WILL BE MOST WELCOME TO COME AND JOIN US. MASKS SHOULD BE WORN AND HAND SPRAY WILL BE PROVIDED AT THE ENTRANCE AND BEFORE TAKING COMMUNION. Once again a huge great thank you to one and all for your time and effort. Not many people want to work when weather is so nice so well done everybody. Judy ###

We love community spirit at St Paul’s and during this time when we are all feeling disconnected it is so refreshing to see our community coming together in socially distanced events.
Thank you to everyone involved in keeping the community spirit high. To the local businesses who are continuing to work and supply products to people in need, to the street bingos that have been a wonderful communal blessing in bringing joy and togetherness to our community.

We like to think of St Paul’s as once being the heart of our community, it has always been the place we share together the most important times of our collective lives: through baptism, weddings and funerals, we welcome you to our family in Christ and we will be here for as long as we can to help anyone in need and to share the joys of life with our community.

In the recent years our congregation has dwindled, and as a result we are unsure about what our future holds, we are hoping that once it is safe to open our doors again that you will join us in worship and for our congregation to grow as it once was and we can strive to be at the heart of our community once again.

We just want to say a real heartfelt thank you to our committed congregation, to the ladies and gentlemen involved in the maintenance of our garden and also to Julie Burquest for the cleaning supplies she has kindly provided us for when we can open our doors again. We greatly appreciate all help and support and look forward to welcoming you all back into our church.

We continue to keep our community in our prayers.
Many thanks,
Stay safe and take care.
