Catholic Chaplaincy to the Liverpool Universities

On Sunday 28th September, Archbishop John Sherrington is coming to the Chaplaincy to celebrate Mass for the start of the Academic Year. Mass is at 6pm, followed by reception. We will also ask him to bless the new icon of Saint Carlo Acutis! All welcome.

Fresher's week is upon us once more, and the start of a new term and a new academic year! Here at the Chaplaincy we have a great schedule of term-time events planned. We also have a new chaplaincy assistant - Mia Hadfield-Spoor. Come and meet us at the welcome week events: Uni of Liverpool Monday 15th at Taylor Square, Thursday 18th at Mountford Hall (look out for the CathSoc Stand) and Friday 19th LJMU Societies Fair, again - look out for CathSoc!

Hello all! I hope that you are having a good and refreshing summer. I am very pleased to announce that we have a new Chaplaincy Assistant for the coming year: Arran Kearney, who comes from the Wirral. Arran will introduce himself in due course, but for now just to say that he has recently completed a degree in History at Milligan University, Tennessee USA. He is also a keen athlete and coach. He comes with much enthusiasm for the chaplaincy, and brings with him many qualities and experiences. Welcome Arran!

St Bernadette Relics UK Tour.... a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The relics will be in Liverpool from the 17th to the 20th of this month. On the website below you can register a time to visit at our cathedral, and in other venues...

In September and October this year, the relics of St Bernadette will journey on pilgrimage to England, Scotland, and Wales for the very first time.

It was great to have Mass in Church on Sunday again - and to be able to gather in the chaplaincy lounge afterwards for tea and coffee!! This week and next are busy with Freshers, but after that we will begin our regular schedule of weekday Masses and evening events at the chaplaincy. We are looking to have regular events on Tuesday evenings (shared meal, discussion/visiting speaker) and Thursdays (fortnightly prayer meetings, other events in between - including art & creative events.) Feeling like you have an idea, or want to be involved in leading these things? Please let me know!

This week we will hopefully be having a visit from the Health & Safety inspector who will advise us what (face-to-face) events we can have this term, and how to make them as safe a possible. Once we have that, we can plan out the term's events! In any case there will be Sunday Mass at 6pm, and at least 2 weekday Masses each week.

Coming to Liverpool in 2021 to study at Uni of Liverpool, LJMU or LIPA?? ? 6pm Sunday Mass at St Philip Neri University Church will start mid-September, and we will be announcing our new term-time programme soon. We'll be at the CHAPLAINCIES' stall at the UoL Societies and Volunteering Fair on FRIDAY 24th September.
We'll also be at the LJMU Fresher's week event on Wednesday 29th September. We look forward to meeting you!!
