The Vicar and members of the congregation are looking forward to supporting our friends at St John the Baptist, Tuebrook later today as they give thanks to God for the life of Fr Brockman. Before the construction of our present Church building, the people of Anfield worshipped at the mission Church of the Advent, constructed by Fr Chevenix Trench. Fr Brockman then furnished the building with altar candles and processional cross and conducted many missions within the southern part of what would become our parish. St Columba’s then received the building and it continued to be a mission church supporting the Christian witness at that end of the parish.

Today we give thanks for the renewed closeness and cooperation between St Columba’s and St John’s as we seek to bear witness to Jesus Christ and the catholic faith as the Church of England has received it.

It is with great joy that we can announce today, that James Williams, ordinand at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield, will be joining us as assistant curate next year, following his ordination to the diaconate. Please pray for James and all preparing for holy orders, that they may be strengthened to confess that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God.

James said: “I am really looking forward to coming back to Anfield. I grew up in the community and went to school locally so I’m looking forward to returning to serve as curate”
