“After the fire came a gentle whisper…” — 1 Kings 19:12 ✨

For Day 3 of our *INSIDE OUT: Mental Health, Faith & The Whole Person* workshop series, Sis. Cheryl reflected on 1 Kings 19 and the story of Elijah — reminding us that even those who walk closely with God can experience exhaustion, fear, loneliness, and emotional overwhelm.

During our Zoom session on Friday 8th, Elder Sam and Bwalya also explored Elijah’s journey after Mount Carmel. Despite witnessing an incredible victory, Elijah became overwhelmed, hopeless, and afraid after Jezebel threatened his life. His story reminds us that struggles with mental health can exist even after moments of success, strength, or spiritual highs.

Yet in Elijah’s lowest moment, God met him gently — not through the wind, earthquake, or fire, but through a still small voice. 🤍

This devotional is a reminder that we are not alone in our struggles, and that God’s presence can still be found in the quiet moments of despair, burnout, fear, and uncertainty.

We’re looking forward to continuing these important conversations in tonight’s Zoom session at 6PM. If you register by 5PM today, you will receive the Zoom link and workshop booklet directly to your email.

The sessions continue throughout this week with different speakers exploring faith, mental health, identity, hope, and emotional wellbeing.

As part of our INSIDE OUT: Mental Health, Faith & The Whole Person workshop series, join us for a special Afternoon Youth Service (AYS) exploring honest conversations around mental health, identity, pressure, and emotional wellbeing.

We’re looking forward to welcoming Gus Nyberg — transformational speaker, author of "Biblical Dating Framework", and theology graduate from Newbold College— as he leads this powerful session on what it means to navigate difficult seasons and deal with darkness through faith and practical understanding.

This programme will create space to reflect on:
• stigma around mental health (especially for men and young people)
• emotional expression and identity
• pressures we carry but don’t always talk about
• how faith supports us through challenging seasons

Bring a friend, bring a family member, and come ready for an honest and encouraging afternoon together 🤍

📲 Don’t forget to register via Eventbrite to receive:
• Zoom access for evening sessions (8–23 May, 6:00–8:30pm)
• workshop resources shared by speakers
• reflection journal prompts
• opportunities to submit anonymous questions
• wellbeing tools and follow-up materials

Even if you can’t attend every session, registering gives you access to everything shared throughout the programme.
