Lay led Liturgy: Over the past number of years, we have witnessed significant growth in lay participation in the church’s ministerial life. In the 1960s, lay readers or Ministers of the Word were introduced. This was followed in the 1980s by the introduction of the office of the Ministers of the Eucharist. We now have a new ministry to add to these. It is the Liturgy of the Word with Holy Communion. It is a Lay-Led Liturgy. We here in Aghalurcher Parish have been blessed with a team of 20 volunteers who provide us with this opportunity each week, and we should be very grateful to them for stepping up to the mark. As we move forward as a Church, we need to prepare for a time when, even if priests are not available, each parish will be ready to arrange moments of public prayer for various occasions. No Parish should find itself in a position where it is not prepared for such a possibility, but it needs support and that’s what I’m inviting you to do. We are also blessed to have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament within our Parish; the Eucharist is so essential to the spiritual life of any Catholic, and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is such a gift. Exposition will begin again this coming Friday 4th September at 5.30pm, followed by our lay led liturgy, and on Monday morning in Holy Cross at 10am. Please support your fellow Parishioners.

Eucharistic Adoration in St. Mary’s, Maguiresbridge recommenced on 4th September at 5.30pm.
Those on Rota for September are as follows:

4th September - Una Porteous
11th September - Etain Traynor
18th September - Dolores Hyde
25th September - Geraldine O’Neill.

If anyone on the Rota cannot attend, please message the Adoration WhatsApp group to see if anyone can cover for them.

The Diocese is carrying out a Census, this normally takes place every five years. It is a survey of the population of the Diocese, Catholic and non-Catholic. The census helps the Diocese improve pastoral care and plan for the future. I would be grateful if you would help compile this census. Without approaching anyone, can you provide: (a) The number of Catholic families in your townland/estate (b)the number of non-Catholic families in your townland/estate (c) the number of Catholics in your townland/estate and (d) the number of non-Catholics in your townland/estate. Please leave this information into the Parish office. Much appreciated.
