This Sunday we welcomed Pastors Brian and Mary home, safe from their travels, it’s great to have them back. Thank you again to everyone who did such a fantastic job keeping everything running smoothly, leading in their absence. Pastor Brian gave us a recap on where we had reached in his “Discipleship; Praying by the rules” series, taking us forward into the prayer of confession and repentance, and we shared in communion together at the close of our service. Next Sunday sees our annual Children’s Day service. The children and Sunday School teachers have been putting so much effort into preparing for the service and we’re looking forward to seeing them take to the platform. All children need to be at church for 10.15am, please. Thank you!

We shared a great Sunday together culminating in a fantastic BBQ spread to fundraise for the youth trip to Tenerife, with Karen speaking to us in our service about how we are never alone, how God’s presence is always with us. Detailing and reflecting on the ways He has been with His people throughout history and how He continues to be with us every day, through Jesus and His gift of the Holy Spirit; in our loneliness, overwhelm, anxiety, stress and isolation. Karen gave us the wonderful verses of Isaiah 41:9-10,

“I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

and reminded us to hold onto hope, echoing what Andi brought to us the Sunday previous, in the words of Psalm 42, especially in our doubt.

We have an encouraging, inspiring body of people at LCC, the body of Christ, daily actioning the words and works taught to us in God’s word and we are grateful to every one who organises and takes part, helping in everything Lisburn City Church stands for. Thank you. 🙏

An inspiring, encouraging, reassuring Sunday together, led in worship by some of our fantastic young people. 👏 Andi’s message on doubt resonating in our hearts, showing us ways forward when this world and the circumstances we may find ourselves in, knock us back. Practical and prayerful ways to encourage ourselves and others.
