The Church’s Ministry of Healing: Ireland welcomes everyone to sign up for its new series, God’s Compassion; Self-Compassion, created and facilitated by Lydia Monds.
This series offers four live sessions on Wednesdays from 17th June-8th July, 7.30-8.15pm, and four pre-recorded videos, available to watch at any time. When we criticise ourselves harshly for “not being good enough,” we deny ourselves the lovingkindness that God offers, and which never falters or fails. Join Lydia as she gently guides us through prayerful practices that can help us to follow the call to live like Christ, who spoke to those he met from a place of radical compassion.

The Rev Canon Robert Ferris, currently rector of Carrigrohane Union of Parishes in the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, has been appointed Associate Minister of Lisburn Cathedral .
Originally from Banbridge, Robert is married to Noelle, who is originally from Kilkeel. The couple met in Blarney and were married there in 2019.
Robert began his ordained ministry as curate in St Columba’s Church, Knock, in the Diocese of Down and Dromore, having been ordained deacon in June 2009 and priest in 2010.
Thirteen and a half years ago, Robert moved to Blarney as Associate Minister and was appointed rector of the parish in December 2020. In June 2024, he was appointed Honorary Canon (Canon Missioner) of St Fin Barre’s Cathedral.
Robert attended Banbridge High School and Banbridge Academy before studying Computer Science at the Ulster University and completing a PGCE at Queen’s University Belfast. In 2006, he began theological studies at the Church of Ireland Theological Institute. In 2019, he completed an MA in Mission at Cliff College, focusing particularly on Pioneer Ministry.
Speaking about his move to Lisburn Cathedral, Robert said: “It will be difficult to move from a place where we have been so happy for so many years and where we have seen God do amazing things. However, in recent months, Noelle and I have felt the call and leading of God through conversations and circumstances that have led us to explore this next phase in our faith journey.
“I am looking forward to the privilege and challenge of serving Christ and his Church in a new way, with a new team, in a new place.”
Robert continued: “When Dean Sam Wright and I spoke together about the potential of ministry in Lisburn, I was particularly excited by the vision of the Cathedral, its heart for the city and the opportunity to use my gifts in so many of the areas of parish ministry which I am so passionate about.
“I am also looking forward to participating in both the traditional and contemporary styles of worship in the Cathedral, praying and sharing with people of all ages and sharing the word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Outside of ministry, Robert is a ‘self-proclaimed techy geek,’ particularly interested in software and gadgets. Both Robert and Noelle enjoy walking, travelling, and cooking together.
Dean Wright said: “I am delighted that Robert will be joining the Cathedral’s staff team in September 2026.
“Robert’s experience over 17 years of ordained ministry, including working in team ministry, will be of great benefit to us. He is a Pioneer Ministry Advocate and has overseen the development and opening of the Carrig Centre. Robert’s appointment comes at a timely moment for Lisburn Cathedral.”
