Last night our Lincoln Street Pastors Now we're kept very busy... both our street team, who never even got chance for a break due to back to back to back calls for assistance, and our Prayer team who were both covering them and also interceding for areas of our city that needed that cover and blanket of peace prayed over it...
We know that keeping our city safe involves a whole team of people, some readily visible like our street team, like our police and ambulance crews, like the street wardens and venue staff in their uniforms... but equally important and often unnoticed and unrecognised are those behind the scenes that work intensely to keep watch and protect the vulnerable whilst remaining in contact with those visible...this includes our Lincoln Street Prayer Pastors which are active before, during and after out street teams go out, this includes the CCTV crew watching out for all from their watchtower base, this includes the plain clothes security that also watch to be informed and protect...
It takes people visible and invisible to protect our City and each is equally as important as the other.
Of course we Lincoln Street Pastors know the most important unseen presence protecting our city and informing our work is God themselves, and we give thanks for their presence in our city even as we are theur hands and feet and intercessors.
Please pray for our city, for all those visible and invisible in safeguarding it... and we implore you, if you are a Christian to ask, share, and listen to the call to join our team so that we can be there every single week at a time when it sometimes seems there is a gap that others can take residence in, when darkness allows predators to prowl, and when we can be there as the difference, the light dark and be the church active on the streets!
We need more Prayer Pastors and Street Pastors desperately!
Prayer Pastors remain at home connecting to each other and the team through zoom and phone... we know the hours are late but God gives us the energy to stay awake, so please respond to the call and ask to observe one of our shifts... you'll be surprised at how prayer is answered and energy is given to do this work...
Street Pastors are the ones that go out between 10-2/3am so do need to be able to walk or wheel for those hours and can get into the City centre to serve...again we welcome people to come out and observe a shift...
This work is needed, necessary and so very rewarding as we serve the lost and least, those alone and those whose need is great, as well as building friendships and community within the nighttime economy of our City.
Full training for Street Pastors is given, and so long as you are over 18 you may be eligible to serve our city, and we'd love it if students wanted to join us too, but there is no upper age limit to either role, especially for our Prayer Pastors where we know that often wisdom comes with grey hair.
