Discover J.L. Petit: The Lost Treasures of Lichfield, exploring the work of a 19th-century artist whose extensive collection of watercolours and drawings was only rediscovered in the 1980s.

From Lichfield Cathedral and Staffordshire landscapes to the changing world of the Industrial Revolution, Petit captured the places and people around him.

Jonathan Dimbleby joins the Enlighten 2026 programme...

We’re pleased to announce that Jonathan Dimbleby will join the Enlighten programme at Lichfield Cathedral this October.

Following the publication of an updated edition of his book, The Palestinians, Dimbleby will reflect on the story of the Palestinian people, its continuing relevance today and the prospects for lasting peace.

Dimbleby argues that there can be no lasting peace without an honest reckoning with the human tragedy of a people left without a land, while considering the fragility of the post-war international order and what its erosion could mean for global stability.

🐋 The final weekend to see Whales
 
This is it. Just one more weekend to look up and see Whales by Tessa Campbell Fraser suspended in the Nave at Lichfield Cathedral.
 
Three enormous s***m whales, created from recycled ghost netting, silk chiffon and latex, have been floating above visitors all summer, inviting us to pause, look up and think differently about our connection with the ocean.
 
If you haven’t seen them yet, this is your last chance. And if you have, why not come back for one more look? 💙
