At the Last Supper, Jesus shares bread and w**e with his disciples, giving them the words that have been a part of Christian worship for centuries.

🎶 Our Cathedral Choir are on tour in Belgium!

This week, Lichfield Cathedral Choir are singing in Hasselt, the Basilica of Tongeren, Philippeville and Brussels Cathedral, as well as taking part in the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate in Ypres, remembering those who died in conflict.

They’ll also visit the former Abbey at Herkenrode in Belgium, which has a link to Lichfield. - The beautiful stained glass windows from the Abbey are now part of our Lady Chapel. It’s a special connection between two places, bringing a little piece of Herkenrode’s history into our Cathedral here in Lichfield.

🙏 Please keep our Choir in your prayers while they're away, for safe journeys, joyful music-making and meaningful encounters.

Evening Prayer will be said at the Cathedral this week, and you're warmly invited to join us for worship on Saturday 24 October and Sunday 25 October , when our music will be led by Caelestis

Meet the historian who brings the past to life.

Lesley Smith is known for her dramatic portrayals of historical characters in full costume. She served as Curator of Tutbury Castle from 2000 to 2024 and has spent decades bringing fascinating stories from the past to life.

Now, Lesley takes on the role of Anne Hathaway, William Shakespeare’s wife of more than 30 years, to explore the story of a woman whose life has often been overshadowed by her famous husband.

Join us at Lichfield Cathedral for Anne Hathaway: A Monologue and enjoy an evening of history, storytelling and a chance to see a familiar name from a different perspective.

A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped install the panels, and to textile artist Jacqui Parkinson for sharing the stories behind her work with visitors on opening day.

Threads through the Cross takes us on a journey through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, told through 18 monumental textile panels full of colour, texture and intricate detail.

Come and take a closer look, follow the story and discover the exhibition for yourself.
