💙 Carers Week, Held in God’s Love 💙

This Carers Week, we give thanks for all who care for others with patience, strength, and quiet love.

Your work reflects the heart of Christ, who came among us as one who serves. If you are a carer, please know this:
God sees you.
God delights in your compassion.
And God walks with you in the tired moments as much as the joyful ones.

At St Ambrose we will be praying especially for carers this week asking God to give you rest when you’re weary, peace when life feels heavy, and the deep assurance that you are never carrying things alone.

Our church is a place of welcome for everyone, and if you need a moment of stillness, a prayer, or simply a seat in the quiet, our doors are open.

May God bless all who care, and strengthen you with His gentle love

One of the joys of being part of a church family is seeing people encourage one another, share their gifts, and learn new skills together.

After a few flower arranging lessons, Adele and Stacey created these beautiful displays for church today. A huge thank you to the wonderful ladies who have generously shared their time, patience, knowledge, and encouragement along the way.

This is what church community is all about – supporting one another, growing together, and using our talents to help make God's house a welcoming and beautiful place for all.

Well done, Adele and Stacey, and thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. 🌸💒❤️

Tonight, out in the vicarage garden, Fr Paul led a simple and meaningful moment as he burned the holy oils that have been used at St Ambrose over the past year.

These oils have played a quiet but important part in our church life- used to bring comfort to the sick, strength to those preparing for baptism, and blessing to people at significant moments in their journey of faith. Every time they were used, they touched real lives in our community. As the oils met the fire, the rising smoke reminds us that “nothing offered to God in love is ever wasted.”

It carried with it all the prayers, hopes, worries and blessings that have passed through our church family this year.

He prayed that St Ambrose will continue to be a place of welcome, kindness, and steady faith. A church where people can simply belong and find peace.

If you’d like to join in from home, here’s a short prayer you can say a Short Prayer for Our Church Family:

Loving God,
thank you for the life we share at St Ambrose.
Bless our church, our community, and all who seek your peace.
Give healing where it’s needed,
strength where things feel heavy,
and hope for the days ahead.
Amen.

You are always welcome here just as you are.

Because some moments deserve our full attention.

At St Ambrose, you'll hear sanctuary bells ring during the Eucharist. They're sounded at the moment Christ becomes the focus of our worship at the altar.

Think of them as a holy interruption.

For a few seconds, the bells cut through everything else-the distractions, the worries, the mental to-do lists, and invite us to look up.

To notice.

To pray.

To adore.

Anglo-Catholic worship engages all the senses. We use incense, candles, music, vestments, silence, and bells because faith isn't just something we think about, it's something we experience.

The bells remind us that we're standing on holy ground and that God is present among his people.

As the Psalmist says:

"O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." (Psalm 96:9)

Ancient? Yes.

Outdated? Not at all.

In a noisy world, perhaps we need sacred bells more than ever.

🌞☀️ Fr Paul, Sunshine & Shenanigans ☀️🌞

While Lancashire has been basking in actual sunshine this week (we’re still checking it wasn’t a weather-related miracle), Fr Paul has been off at the Bishop’s Youth Holiday living his best life with our amazing young people.

And by “best life”, we mean:
🔗 being photographed in police handcuffs
👑 being dressed up as a bishop
😇 and somehow still looking delighted about it all

Before anyone starts packing him off to the cathedral or the local police station:
🚫 He hasn’t been arrested
🚫 He hasn’t been promoted
🚫 He DEFINITELY isn’t leaving St Ambrose

He will be back with us for our Sunday morning services as normal fully free, fully un-handcuffed, and wearing his usual outfit (we think).

The young people have had a brilliant week, and their energy, faith, and humour remind us why youth engagement is so important in the life of the Church. They’re not just the future, they’re the heartbeat of right now. ❤️

And if that occasionally means Fr Paul ends up looking like he’s starring in a very niche ITV drama… well, that’s ministry for you.

All are welcome this Sunday- sunshine, smiles, and a slightly less dramatic Fr Paul Robinson guaranteed. 🌻⛪

🌞 Pentecost Sunday at St Ambrose 🌞

Honestly, the vibes were immaculate this morning. Sunshine blazing, church absolutely packed, everyone in that good mood you only get when the weather finally behaves in Britain for more than ten minutes.

We heard the Pentecost story from John 20.19–23, Jesus showing up, offering peace, and basically saying, “Right, deep breath, you’ve got this.” And to be fair, it felt pretty spot‑on for today.

We also welcomed a little one into God’s family with a baptism, which was just lovely. There’s something about seeing a tiny human start their journey that makes you stop, smile, and think, “Yeah… this is what community is meant to feel like.”

And that’s the thing about St Ambrose, it is community.
A proper one.
A real one.

Whoever you are, your gender, your sexuality, your race, your background, you’re welcome here. No judgement. No hoops to jump through. Just a place where you can show up exactly as you are.

Now we’re rolling into the Bank Holiday weekend, and if the sunshine sticks around, we fully support you enjoying a cold gin, a cheeky Prosecco, or whatever your go‑to “it’s a long weekend” drink is. May your BBQs not burn, your garden chairs not collapse, and your weather app not lie to you.

Wishing you a brilliant week ahead full of peace, joy, and maybe a bit of sunshine on your face 🌿✨

There’s something special about a misty morning around our church, that quiet, calm moment before the day begins. Pentecost feels a bit like that too: a breath of fresh air, a spark of hope, a reminder that we’re not doing life on our own.

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power.” Acts 1:8

Tomorrow we celebrate that promise, still real, still relevant, still changing lives.

8.30am – BCP Communion
10.30am – Sung Eucharist with a baptism as we welcome a little one into the family

If you’re looking for a church that’s inclusive, warm, and genuinely welcoming, you’ll find a place here. Whether you come every week, haven’t been in years, or are just curious , you’re invited. No pressure. No expectations. Just community, peace, and a space where you can simply be.

See you tomorrow at St Ambrose, Moss Lane, Leyland 🕊️✨
