Some wonderful news from All Saints

We are excited to share that All Saints Willian has been awarded £29,636 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, helping us move ahead with the urgent conservation work Willian’s beautiful Grade II* church now needs.

It’s a wonderful moment for the church but it’s also the latest part of a much bigger story.
The total cost of the necessary repairs is over £100,000, and reaching this point has taken an extraordinary effort from our congregation, people across Willian, generous individual donors and a number of other grant-making organisations.

This Heritage Fund award is the piece that has got us over the line.

For generations, people have come through the doors of All Saints to worship and pray, to marry, to baptise their children, to remember people they love and simply to find friendship and community. Now we have the chance to make sure it is still here for the generations who come after us.

Reverend Gail said:

“I can’t tell you how relieved and grateful I am. We have prayed throughout this journey and I’m incredibly thankful to God for this provision, through the wonderful generosity of so many people.

“When you care for a church like All Saints, you’re very aware that it was here long before us and, God willing, will be here long after us. So many people have helped us reach this point, and this funding means we can now give the building the care it needs and hand it on well to those who come next.”

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, fundraised, encouraged us, advised us and prayed for the project; this really has been a shared effort.

We’re very grateful too to National Lottery players, whose support has made this £29,636 Heritage Fund award possible.
Now comes the small matter of scaffolding, stonework and actually getting it done… and we’ll be sharing the journey with you!

Before we started compline for the evening, we had a go at using a pinhole viewer to see the eclipse. A little glimpse just about visible on the pavers outside the entrance to the church building 🌖

We’ve spent a great time together, with friends from St Mary the Virgin this afternoon, exploring what it means to pray and lead intercessions; where we come to God on behalf of others.

If you missed it, keep an eye out for the next date when we’ll be running this workshop again in the autumn. 🙏🏼🛐💒

What a wonderful day at the Willian Village Fair! ☀️⛪️🎪

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to visit us at All Saints today.

Whether you stopped for a slice of homemade cake, browsed the crafts, picked up some local Willian honey or preserves, had a chat with friends old and new, or simply enjoyed being part of village life, it was lovely to see so many people together.

Events like the Village Fair remind us that church is about so much more than a building. It’s about community, hospitality and creating places where everyone is welcome. For generations, All Saints has been part of the life of Willian, and days like today show that tradition is alive and well.

Our heartfelt thanks go to every volunteer who baked, knitted, crafted, served refreshments, set up stalls, packed everything away and gave their time so generously. We couldn’t do it without you.🙌

If you visited us today and would like to find out more about All Saints, we’d love to welcome you back. Whether it’s for a Sunday service, one of our community events, or simply to enjoy the peace of this beautiful ancient church, our doors are always open.

Thank you, Willian – here’s to next year! ❤️
