The Leominster Priory Futures Project has now finished, and what an incredible journey it's been!

Over the past 15 months, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project engaged over 18,000 people through heritage activities including the Welcome to England's Orchard film (watch the trailer above), the Ducking Stool project, and our month-long Priory 900 celebration.
Key achievements:

- 15,798 visitors during Priory 900
- 1,425 children involved in schools workshops
- 98.9% of participants rated their experience as excellent or good
- Over 250 volunteers contributed their time and talents

As a result of the project we now have a feasibility study, concept design, business plan and fundraising strategy that will guide the Priory's future development.

What happens next?
The PCC will now review the findings and determine the priorities and next steps for the Priory's future. Watch this space for updates!

Thank you to everyone who took part, volunteered, or supported the project. Your involvement has been invaluable in helping us understand how the Priory can serve the community for the next 100 years.

It was great to chat to people at the Open Heritage Day and to unveil the Concept Design for Leominster Priory. For those of you who are interested in looking at the Concept Design and sharing your views with us you can do this in a number of ways. With the Phase One consultation now over we are moving into an exciting stage of the project. The architects have received the consultation findings and have a clear steer in terms of the priorities emerging from the consultation. They are currently working on three design options that will be taken out for wider public consideration in late April / May.

Details of this next phase of consultation will be widely publicised to enable people to view and comment on the 3 options.

We had a great start to our consultation for the Priory Futures Project at the Priory Open Day last Sunday. Thank you to everyone that stopped to share their thoughts and ideas about the Priory with us, it was really enlightening. We will be at the Apple Fair at The Priory this Saturday (19th October) so if you are coming along come and find us and say hello.

The project will begin with an extensive consultation process during October - December 2024, engaging the PCC, current users, community groups, other community venues, visitors, and the wider community. The purpose of the consultation is to gather feedback on how people would like to see the space improved, what they want to keep and how the Priory can be better used.

Insights from the consultation phase will shape the creation of a feasibility study, a comprehensive business plan and fundraising strategy for the future of the Priory.

Welcome to the Priory Futures project. Priory Futures is an exciting project launched by Leominster Priory to explore and shape the future of this historic site.

The project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to commission a team of professionals to work alongside the Parochial Parish Council (PCC) to develop a shared, holistic vision for the Priory’s future.

The twelve-month project is a unique opportunity to bring together current and new users to explore how Leominster Priory can be more accessible, increase its usage, and ensure long-term sustainability while retaining its core identity as a place of worship.

Alongside these future-focused efforts, Priory Futures will celebrate the Priory’s rich history and cultural heritage through three distinct Heritage projects, each designed to honour and preserve the traditions of this beautiful and revered site.
