Like so many other campsites our poor grass almost didn’t survive the intense heat but a few weeks later and it’s changed from dead and dusty to fresh green shoots! Praying that any of our guests arriving this weekend that feel a bit like our dead and dusty campsite will experience spiritual refreshment and leave with green shoots of fresh growth.

WEEKLY FUNDRAISING UPDATE!

Thanks to a generous pledged grant from a Trust this week, we are pleased to share that we are now at £710,000 raised! We are still pushing to reach £1.2m out of our total £2m goal, by the middle of December, which would enable us to proceed with the purchase of the hall! So please continue to pray, donate and consider how you or your church can help us reach our goal!

We are just coming to the end of our busy summer season, where the hall and campsite are full all week long for 6 weeks. It's been amazing to see and hear all that God has been doing in peoples lives through out the summer. As always this is a busy time for the staff team, so we will hopefully have more fundraising announcements and opportunities to share in the coming weeks as we settle into a more normal rhythm here at Sizewell Hall.

Thank you for your continued support! We wanted to give you an update, in particular, to clarify our recent newsletter and update video.

Since our last newsletter we have raised a further £50,000, which is really encouraging, taking our total to £650,000 raised. We are still targeting £1.2m raised by mid December 2026 in order to be able to proceed with the purchase. Our overall goal of raising £2m in total, would also enable a number of improvements to help address long-term issues at the hall and lower our ongoing costs.

We also want to clarify where we are in terms of grant funding following our recent update. While it is true that reaching £600,000 enabled us to submit some fundraising applications that we previously couldn't, we wont be able to rely on grant funding to get us the rest of the way to the £1.2m target for this year. We remain hopeful that some of our submitted applications will be successful, however, we may not hear the outcome for some time and receiving a grant from any trust is far from guaranteed. Some of the trusts we have approached have also said that they will be more inclined to provide grants towards improvements, renovations and other capital projects once the purchase of the building is secured.

This means that we are still very much going to need everyone's support to reach this goal of £1.2m by December. We will be providing more regular weekly updates through the rest of 2026 and will share more about how you can support us in the coming weeks. If you haven't already please share the fundraising project with your friends, family and church leaders and consider whether your church or organisation could hold a giving day or meet to pray for us here at Sizewell Hall as we seek to raise this money.

We are confident that God has opened up this opportunity to secure the future of the work here at Sizewell Hall, because he has a long-term plan for the Hall to remain a Christian Conference Centre. The amazing support has shown us that many people have been impacted by Sizewell Hall over the years and also believe that this opportunity is not one we should miss.

Thank you for all your prayers as the amazing fire crews fight the fire at Dunwich Heath. Please see the below update from Suffolk Fire and rescue, regarding the relative stability of the fire at present. The power station remain confident that there is no immediate threat from the fire to the station, particularly with the large area of wetland at minsmere that provides a natural fire break.

We have been able to continue operating with the camps ongoing in the hall and on the campsite, and at present we don't expect any evacuation to be needed. We will of course be monitoring the situation for any changes.

Please keep praying that there are no major re-ignitions and for all the fire service and volunteers who continue their efforts to keep us all safe.

The incident at Dunwich Heath remains changeable. Crews are making good progress in very hot conditions - from both above and below - and the situation is currently stable.

We are still operating under a Major Incident as declared by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and Suffolk Resilience Forum, and we continue to ask you to stay away from the area.

Between 12 and 15 fire engines, along with support vehicles, are at the scene this morning. Favourable weather conditions have helped crews make good progress against the fire.

We expect the response to continue through the weekend and possibly into next week. If this progress continues, we expect to be able to gradually reduce the number of resources at the scene.

As mentioned in our earlier update, fire and rescue assets from across the country are supporting the response, and additional resources are ready to be called upon if needed.

Roads and footpaths in the area remain closed until further notice.

We are discussing arrangements for evacuated residents to return and collect personal belongings and vehicles. This will only happen when it is safe to do so.

At this stage, there are no plans for any further evacuations.

We are in regular contact with Sizewell B, and there continues to be no cause for concern.
