Ask people what they think of church and you're likely to get the same response - boring or irrelevant, but at Leigh Road Baptist Church (LRBC) over 300 people each week enjoy a spiritual reality that denies both of these. LRBC is made up of all kinds of people: young and old, couples and singles, senior citizens, young families, older families, and single parents. There are people from all manner

of trades and professions too. Although we come from different backgrounds, we have one person in common, Jesus Christ. Whether we know Him as our personal friend and saviour or are just looking into His claims and possible relevance to our lives. What difference does the Holy Spirit make to following Jesus?

This Sunday we continue Cultivating a Spirit-Filled Life, exploring what it means to know the Holy Spirit and recognise His presence and work in our everyday lives.

This week, Steve Dalley will explore "The Holy Spirit, the Believer and the Word of God", drawing on � John 16:5–15.

Jesus' words in this passage help us understand the work of the Holy Spirit and His role in guiding, teaching and revealing God's truth. The Holy Spirit is not simply a subject to learn about — He is God's presence with us, helping us to understand His Word, leading us into truth and pointing us towards Jesus.

Together we'll explore what it means to listen to the Holy Spirit, allow God's Word to shape our lives, and grow in our relationship with God as followers of Jesus.

Through sung worship, praise and prayer, we'll respond together and make space to encounter God and hear what He might be saying to us.

Everyone is welcome, no matter where you are on your journey of faith.

Cultivating a Spirit Filled Life: Knowing the Holy Spirit in Your Life
� Sunday 6 September | 10:30 AM

This Sunday we begin a brand-new series, Cultivating a Spirit Filled Life, in our Sunday Gatherings and Life Groups.

As we explore this series together, we'll be discovering more about the Holy Spirit — who He is, how He works, and what it means to know and experience His presence in our everyday lives.

To launch the series, Ian Smith will explore "Knowing the Holy Spirit in Your Life", drawing on � Matthew 3:16–17 and Colossians 1:24–27.

The Holy Spirit isn't simply a subject to learn about — He is God's presence with us, inviting us into a deeper relationship with Him and shaping us to become more like Jesus. Together we'll begin exploring what it means to recognise, welcome and cultivate the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Through sung worship, praise, prayer and Communion, we'll respond together and make space to encounter God and hear what He might be saying to us.

Everyone is welcome, whether you're exploring faith, returning to church, or have followed Jesus for many years.

This Sunday we reach the final instalment of our summer series, Summer Son-days: Jesus in His Own Words – "I AM...", in our Sunday Gatherings and Life Groups.

Over the past few weeks, we've been exploring the powerful "I AM" statements of Jesus, hearing what He says about Himself and discovering what His words mean for our lives today.

To bring the series to a close, Ian Smith will explore "I Am the True Vine", reflecting on Jesus' words in � John 15:1–17.

Jesus uses the picture of a vine and its branches to describe the close relationship He wants to have with His followers. A branch cannot flourish by itself — it needs to remain connected to the vine.

What does it mean to remain in Jesus? How do we grow in our relationship with Him, and what does it look like for our lives to bear fruit?

As we finish our journey through the "I AM" statements, we'll consider Jesus' invitation to remain close to Him, to receive life from Him, and to allow His love to shape the way we live and love others.

Through sung worship, praise and prayer, we'll respond together to Jesus' words and celebrate all we've discovered throughout this summer series.

The message of Jesus is for everyone, and everyone is warmly welcome.

During the summer holidays, there will be one combined group for Junior Church, bringing our children together for worship, learning and fun.

A parent-led crèche will also be available for younger children.
