Sermon on the Mount: The Power of Prayer and Fasting
 Sunday 14 June | 10:30 AM

This Sunday we continue our Sermon on the Mount series in our Sunday Gatherings and Life Groups, exploring Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5–7.

This week, Steve Dalley will help us unpack “The Power of Prayer and Fasting”, exploring Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:5–18.

Prayer and fasting can sometimes feel mysterious, difficult, or reserved for the especially spiritual — yet Jesus presents them as simple, life-giving practices that help shape our relationship with God. Together we’ll explore what Jesus teaches about authentic prayer, quiet dependence on God, and the invitation to draw closer to Him with open hearts.

From the Lord’s Prayer to fasting in secret, Jesus points us beyond performance and towards genuine relationship — reminding us that our Father sees, knows, and welcomes us.

Through worship, praise, and prayer, we’ll respond together to Jesus’ teaching and continue discovering the life He calls us to live.

At the centre of it all is Jesus — inviting each of us into a deeper relationship with God and showing us a way of living rooted in trust, grace, and hope. His message is for everyone, and everyone is warmly welcome.

Sermon on the Mount | Handling Money: Abounding, Generous, Giving
 Sunday 7 June | 10:30 AM

This Sunday we continue our Sermon on the Mount series in our Sunday Gatherings and Life Groups, exploring Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5–7.

Steve Dalley will help us unpack “Handling Money: Abounding, Generous, Giving”, exploring Jesus' words in Matthew 6:1–4 and Matthew 6:19–24.

Money is something we all deal with, and Jesus spoke about it often. Together we'll explore how our attitude towards money, possessions, and generosity reveals something about our hearts. Jesus invites us to live differently — not driven by accumulation or anxiety, but by trust in God, generosity towards others, and investment in what truly lasts.

At the heart of this message is the good news that everything we have comes from God, and that true riches are found not in what we possess, but in knowing and following Jesus Christ. His teaching remains as relevant today as ever, and His message is for everyone.

 Communion
As part of this gathering, we will also share Communion together, remembering with gratitude the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

If you're joining online and would like to participate, please have some bread and wine or juice ready so that you can share in Communion from where you are.

Through worship, praise, prayer, and Communion, we'll respond together to Jesus' teaching and continue discovering the life He calls us to live.

Sermon on the Mount: Loving Your Enemies and Difficult People
 Sunday 31 May | 10:30 AM

This Sunday we continue our Sermon on the Mount series in our Sunday gatherings and Life Groups, exploring Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5–7.

Rev. Ian Smith will help us unpack “Loving Your Enemies and Difficult People”, exploring Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:38–48.

These are some of Jesus’ most challenging and radical teachings. Together we’ll reflect on what it means to respond differently in a world often shaped by anger, division, revenge, and hostility. Jesus calls His followers beyond simply loving those who are easy to love, inviting us instead into lives marked by grace, mercy, forgiveness, and unexpected love.

At the heart of this message is Jesus Himself — the One who loved us even when we were far from Him, and who continues to transform hearts and relationships through His grace. His invitation is for everyone, and everyone is warmly welcome.

Through worship, praise, and prayer, we’ll respond together to the teaching of Jesus and continue discovering the life He calls us to live.

Today is a special Sunday with Leigh Road Baptist Church as we celebrate Pentecost and rejoice together in TWO baptisms during our 10:30am gathering. Everyone is warmly welcome to join us.

Pentecost remembers the moment God’s Holy Spirit came upon the first followers of Jesus, filling them with courage, hope and new life. It is often called the “birthday of the Church” because it marks the beginning of the Christian story spreading across the world to people of every nation and language.

That same story continues today.

Baptism is a public celebration of faith in Jesus — an outward sign of an inward transformation. As two people are baptised this morning, we celebrate God’s love, new beginnings, and the work of the Holy Spirit still changing lives today.

Whether you’ve been part of church for years, are exploring faith, or simply curious, you are invited to come and share in this joyful Pentecost celebration with us.
