Leicester Cathedral is a Grade II* listed building on the site of Roman worship. The present St Martins church dates from the Norman period and has evolved continuously since then, notably in the Victorian period, but more work was done in 1927 when it became a cathedral. Since March 2015 the cathedral has housed the tomb of King Richard III. Visiting Hours

Monday - Friday: 9.00am to 5.00pm
Saturday: 10.00am to 5.00pm
Sunday: 12.00 to 3.00pm

* Choral Evensong takes place during term-time. Services and Visiting Hours are subject to change. We will continue to update our website with up-to-date information. The Cathedral page reflects the work we do as the focus for the Bishop's ministry and the ongoing life of the Cathedral, and also the reinterment of King Richard III. On these topics, we welcome comments and ask for courtesy in views expressed. We reserve the right to moderate posts or block contributors if they are unable to abide by our standards. Our Eucharist today marks Black History Month, and we are pleased to welcome Prof. Anthony G. Reddie as our guest preacher - Professor of Black Theology at the University of Oxford and Director of the Centre for Black Theology at Regent’s Park College.

We're excited to welcome tutor Safira Arts for our next adult art workshop!

Come draw a classic historical 6-fold star pattern from tiles in Turkey. Construct a pattern using a compass and ruler and create a painting to take home with you.

The session will include an opportunity to explore watercolour painting techniques, which you can then use to create your own painting. No prior experience is required.
