Jain Samaj Europe (Leicester) The Jain Centre development took place over eight years, in the heart of Leicester City after purchasing an old spacious church building.

The Jain Centre

The Jain Centre in Leicester is the first consecrated Jain Temple in the western world where visitors come
from all over the world for worship. The vision was to establish a modern european centre for Jains of all sects, where they all worked together hand in hand, in order to practice and promote the Jain doctrine. The front elevation of the building has transformed the landscap

e of the area and one cannot fail to admire the view, whilst passing. This development of the Jain Centre in Leicester, has been made possible through friendship, goodwill and support of a great number of individuals and organisations.

Harilal Jashvir Patel
20th September 1938 – 31st July 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harilalbhai Jashvir Patel on Friday, 31st July 2026, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 87.
Harilalbhai was born in Zanzibar, Tanzania, on 20th September 1938. In 1965, he moved to the United Kingdom and made Leicester his home. He married Madhuben Harilal Jashvir Patel in 1967, and together they built a loving family founded on strong values, compassion, and faith.
Harilalbhai was a gentle, thoughtful, and kind-hearted man who was deeply devoted to his family and friends. His unwavering faith was central to his life, and he was a dedicated and respected member of Jain Samaj Leicester, where he served the community with humility and sincerity.
His wisdom, warmth, and quiet strength touched the lives of so many. Harilalbhai will be remembered with great love and respect, and his presence, guidance, and gentle nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his family find strength and comfort in the cherished memories they hold.
Harilalbhai is survived by his loving family:

1:00 PM: Chapel Service at Gilroes Crematorium, Groby Road, Leicester LE3 9QG
1:40 PM: Service finishes.
2:30 PM: Chaas Rotla at Jalaram Sadavrat Centre, 10 Glen St, Leicester LE4 6NN

Jai Jinendra and Jai Shri Krishna

With a heavy heart and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Motabhai, Sureshchandra Himatlal Mehta of Glasgow, Scotland, formerly of Kampala, Uganda.

Sureshbhai passed away peacefully in the presence of family on the 20th July 2026. Motabhai was the epitome of kindness, always humble and ready to help others. He was a caring and compassionate person who was very dedicated to his family, faith and community.

Cherished son of Late Prabhavantiben and Late Himatlal Amulakh Mehta
