Launde Abbey

Launde Abbey Launde Abbey is a Christian retreat house and conference centre set in the heart of England. The grounds are also suitable for marquee weddings.

Launde Abbey is a Christian retreat house and conference centre in the East Midlands open to the whole church and the wider community through the generous support of the Church of England dioceses of Leicester and Peterborough. Located in the heart of England, we're easily accessible from the A1, M1 and A47. We offer a full programme of retreats throughout the year, as well as monthly Quiet Days,

fundraising events and ensuite bed and breakfast accommodation for those visiting the local area. The gardens and grounds at Launde Abbey are extensive and beautiful, with long and short walks available nearby. Our café is open on most days for visitors to enjoy a morning coffee, afternoon tea or one of our delicious lunches. We do occasionally close, so if you are travelling a long distance please visit our website for dates when we are closed to the public. The medieval Chapel, which formed part of the original Augustinian Priory, is a place of worship available to all who visit and there are also other smaller chapels in the house and grounds that are suitable for individual or small group worship. At certain times of the year we also offer couples the opportunity to celebrate their wedding in our Chapel, which is licenced for Church of England weddings. It is also possible to hold a wedding reception in our Dining Room, and couples can make use of the Main House for a country house style wedding. For more information about what we can offer, please visit our website at www.laundeabbey.org.uk or email us at [email protected].

What a beautiful day for our Labyrinth Retreat ☀️🌿

Led by Nickie Fidgin, retreatants spent the morning around the grounds beneath the trees, taking time to reflect on being rooted and grounded, before later walking the labyrinth together.

With temperatures reaching over 30°C today, the shade from the trees has been especially welcome as everyone enjoys the peace and stillness of the Abbey grounds. ✨

No two days are ever the same here at Launde Abbey!

A resident Tai Chi group were exercising on the old tennis lawn to the faint backdrop of rumbling motorcycle engines (over 150 of them!), which themselves were harmonising with a Choral Group who were filling our Chapel with beautiful song. A strange but delightful array of activity, which our other guests and visitors found exceedingly interesting.

It was a delight to welcome and the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, who were using Launde Abbey as their muster point before riding on to Ashby Folville for a great cause – .

There’s still time to join us for the Rural Mission Hub Overnight Retreat at Launde Abbey, starting tomorrow.

If you’re involved in rural ministry, this is a chance to step away, reflect, pray, and connect with others serving in rural contexts.

Places are still available, and it’s not too late to book. While this is an overnight retreat, we would also love to welcome people who are only able to attend during the day on Thursday.

To find out more or book your place, visit our website or get in touch with the team today.

Share wisdom and companionship with others in rural pioneering ministry with led reflection, personal prayer and mutual learning.

These last few weeks have given us some beautiful glimpses of spring around site - bright mornings, fresh green spaces, and plenty of sunshine enjoyed by visitors, guests, and café regulars alike. ☀️📸

After yesterday’s hail and rain, we’re especially hoping the warmer weather makes a return soon… perhaps next week 👀 Until then, we’ll keep enjoying the changing skies and keeping an eye on the forecast!

The famous Launde Abbey cookies 🍪

We love giving these to our guests staying with us as a little mid-morning treat alongside their refreshments — and recently we’ve been trialling some new double chocolate ones too! 🍫

We also offer cakes and more, with gluten free and vegan options.

Something to look forward to when visiting...
