🥇 A Special Day for St Michael’s 🥇

On 1st June, members of the PCC attended the Archdeacon’s Annual Visitation Service to see our very own Tivey officially sworn in as Churchwarden.

Now, before anyone thinks this is Linda’s first time, she’s actually been serving faithfully as Churchwarden for the past 10 years! 👏

Churchwardens play a vital role in the life of a parish. They work alongside the vicar, represent the congregation, help care for the church building, support the mission of the church, and do their best to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. It’s a role that often goes unseen but is hugely important.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Linda for her faithful service, commitment, and willingness to keep saying “yes” when the church needs her. ❤️

If you’d like to know more about becoming a Churchwarden or PCC member, please have a chat with one of us. We’re currently in an interregnum, so any PCC member would be delighted to answer your questions and tell you a little more about what’s involved.

And finally, a small word of warning… 😄

Churchwardens occasionally find themselves dealing with everything from leaking gutters and temperamental boilers to missing teaspoons and mystery keys. It’s never dull, but it is a wonderful way to serve God and your church community.

Sometimes the most important ministries begin with a simple conversation.

𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐓. 𝐌𝐈𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐄𝐋𝐒

You may have spotted the Eco Church certificate or heard the term mentioned, but what does it mean?

St Michael’s has held the Silver Eco Church Award for some time, recognising our commitment to caring for God’s creation.

The award looks at everything from worship and teaching to community engagement, church buildings, energy use, and the management of church land and wildlife.

It’s a reminder that faith isn’t only expressed inside the church walls. It can also be seen in how we care for the world God has made.

A small award with a big message: caring for creation is part of Christian discipleship. 🌱

❤️ Love and the Great Commission ❤️

Yesterday, we heard Jesus’ Great Commission:

“Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19)

It’s a familiar passage, and often our focus is on the going. But perhaps we should also think about the how.

How do we make disciples?

Jesus gives us the answer elsewhere:

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)

The Great Commission and love belong together.

Not just sharing the message of Jesus, but living it.

Not just speaking about God’s love, but demonstrating it.

A listening ear.
A helping hand.
A meal shared.
A prayer offered.
A kindness shown when nobody is watching.

People may forget our words, but they rarely forget how we made them feel.

Perhaps that’s why Jesus placed love at the very centre of discipleship.

As we go into this week, let’s reflect on a simple question:

When people encounter us as Christians, do they encounter the heart of God? ❤️
