Friends of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Leicester

Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) is a socio-spiritual Hindu organization with its roots in the Vedas.

It was revealed by Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781-1830) in the late 18th century and established in 1907 by Shastriji Maharaj (1865-1951). Founded on the pillars of practical spirituality, the BAPS reaches out far and wide to address the spiritual, moral and social challenges and issues we face in our world. Its strength lies in the purity of its nature and purpose. BAPS strives to care for the world

by caring for societies, families and individuals. Its universal work through a worldwide network of over 3,850 centers has received many national and international awards and affiliation with the United Nations. Today, a million or more Swaminarayan followers begin their day with puja and meditation, lead upright, honest lives and donate regular hours in serving others. No Alcohol, No Addictions, No Adultery, No Meat, No Impurity of body and mind are their five lifetime vows. Such pure morality and spirituality forms the foundation of the humanitarian services performed by BAPS.

Thank you to everyone who registered as a stem cell donor and helped give patients a better chance of finding their match.

With 120 swabs completed by the team of 15 medics from Nottingham and Leicester, our community has taken a meaningful step towards increasing the chances of finding lifesaving matches for patients in need.

We are grateful to all the volunteers, supporters, medics, and the team whose hard work and commitment made the day such a success. We look forward to holding more events like this in the future.

On Saturday 16 May 2026, Balaks and Balikas of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Leicester, conducted a special ‘Satsang Dikshā Homātmak Yagna’ on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj.

The children recited the entire Satsang Diksha granth in Sanskrit, which was conducted in the presence of Pujya Swamis.

Yesterday, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Leicester held a Keri Annakut (Mango display) for the first ever time.

Over 3500 Mangoes were used to arrange the beautiful display.

We thank the volunteers for their hard work in setting up and organising the display.

Today marks the birth anniversary of Yogiji Maharaj, the fourth spiritual successor of Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan.

A pioneer of children and youth engagement, Yogiji Maharaj laid the foundation for the weekly assemblies that continue to nurture spiritual growth around the world.

His life was a shining example of humility, devotion, and tireless service. His visionary leadership also helped spread Satsang to Africa and the UK.

With a long history of collaboration, Alapbhai has composed and sang numerous Bhajans for the Mandir and its celebrations.

He fondly reminisced about his prior visit, where he performed a divine evening of Bhajan Sandhya.

Over 65 Balikas and Kishoris participated in the recent Mahila Ram Navmi and Swaminarayan Jayanti celebrations, showcasing their talents through dance, drama, bhajans, and speeches that highlighted the qualities and life lessons of Shri Ramachandra Bhagwan and Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan.
