An incredibly special and important Sunday service co-lead by Rob Oulton of the U4CJ, followed by a shared vegan lunch and a showing of People’s Emergency Briefing.

We shared much needed reflection on how we, as humans, can be more grateful and caring of the Earth we live on, our sanctuary in the vast universe. 🌍

As a chapel and as individuals we are working to find more solutions on how to live sustainably. For more information about U4CJ, including regular updates on whatsapp, search “Unitarians for Climate Justice” on Facebook or Google ☀️

A very successful community fundraiser for Sudan! The bake sale generated £250, which is enough money to feed 33 children for a month. A special thank you to Gabby for helping out for the day 🫶🏼

A friendly reminder that we have some amazing community spaces that can be used for events such as these! Feel free to contact the chapel via our social media to enquire about our garden room and Christopher Wykes room ☀️

🌍 Today is Earth Day, so this is a quick reminder that this coming Sunday (26 April) we’re hosting a Unitarians for Climate Justice event. 🌱

You’re very welcome to join us for the whole day or just drop in for parts of it. The lunch is a shared endeavour, so if you’re able to bring something to contribute, please do. But don’t worry if you can’t (or forget!). There will be plenty to go around.

Oh, and do bring your friends! 💚

🎥 About the film:
A new film from the National Emergency Briefing - a public information initiative to ensure the UK is fully briefed on the climate and nature crisis.

The 50-minute film will combine authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces - designed to help audiences process the information on a more human level. It will deliver the frank facts about the threats, but also the enormous benefits if Government leads genuine emergency action.

The film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing, which brought together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature. It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain - and what the evidence says about risks and responses. Many of those attending the event commented that although the facts are alarming, they felt a sense of optimism about confronting the challenge together and seeing a pathway to a better future.

The initiative is explicitly non-partisan, and is supported by a wide range of organisations including National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, and many more.

Following the film, we will host a structured discussion on what this means for our community, including implications for local preparedness, resilience and long-term planning.

Please note: due to logistical issues the screening itself will have to take place in the downstairs room which is only accessible via a flight of stairs. Apologies!
