The Greek Orthodox community of St Nicholas and St Xenophon of Leicester was created by the Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain after the people living in the Leicestershire area decided to have their own Church with a community as well as a Greek school, with the personal support of the priest of Northampton Archimandrite Nikolaos Sideras. In December 1969 they invited Fr Nikolaos Sideras t

o officiate in the 1st liturgy which it took place on Sunday 8th February 1970 AT St Martins Cathedral at 12:30 which the church was completely full. After the liturgy the people had their first Assembly and the first Governing Committee was voted in. The first president was Mr Andreas Kortaris, Secretary Mr Michael Hasapis and Treasurer Mr Nikolaos Zautis and Members Mr Costantinos Elisseou, Mr Panayiotis Petrou, at the same day was created the Treasurer of the Community, from then on the Community was served by Priests send from the Archdiocese or from neighbouring Committees. The Committee bought their own Church in 1986 from the Anglican Church (All Souls Church) and they gave the name of St Nicholas and St Xenophon. In 1998 we bought the house of the Church and it is now used as our Community centre and Greek School.
