Christ Church Halton

Christ Church Halton A modern, welcoming Church in the heart of Halton, Leeds. Our main act of worship takes place every Sunday at 10.30am.

Christ Church, Halton is a Local Ecumenical Partnership church, in both Methodist and United Reformed traditions, we welcome people of any or no previous church affiliation to join with us in learning more about the Christian faith. We have a variety of preachers leading worship, sometimes a Minister, sometimes a lay preacher, which means our worship is led by people from different backgrounds and

is varied in style. Activities for children are available at the back of the church, and our Junior Church Team are also happy to supervise your children if you would like to stay in your seat for the service. We also meet on the first Tuesday of each month (except August) at 7.15pm for Evening Communion. We've been holding Messy Church on the second Saturday of the month for over seven years, and we often see more than 40 familes - bring your children along for craft, singing, food, drink and plenty of mess! So whatever faith background you have, or if you're of no faith at all, we'd love to make you welcome, and perhaps we can accompany each other on our journey. If you would like further information before joining with us for worship or any other activity, please contact our Minister on the email address given here, contact us via Facebook, or just come along to worship. We'll be happy to welcome you and answer any questions you might have. Or, if you'd rather sit quietly at the back, that's fine too!

Affirming God, who desires abundant life for all. We mark Mental Health Awareness Week because for too long those with mental illness have been, and continue to be, subjected to discrimination and prejudice. Let us create a world where we can raise awareness and be kind and compassionate to one another and ourselves. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A wee prayer for World Earth Day:
Creator God, we thank you for the wonders and diversity of your creation as the world around us bursts into life and colour. We lament wilful destruction and unintentional apathy. Help us to see ourselves us interconnected with all that is living. Amen.

We enjoyed some uplifting Easter celebrations last weekend - here are some photos of how the church looked on the big day. Thank you to our dedicated flower arrangers, and to Messy Church for the "he is risen" display.

"This joyful Eastertide, what need is there for grieving? Cast all your cares aside, and be not unbelieving. Come, share our Easter joy that death could not imprison, nor any power destroy, our Christ, who is arisen!" Words for Easter from a hymn by Fred Pratt Green. If you'd like to come and share Easter joy with us, worship begins at 10.30 this morning. We wish you a happy and peaceful Easter, from all at Christ Church.

"It is finished!” Jesus said from the cross ahead of his final breaths. But this isn’t despair. Jesus isn’t saying, “It’s over, I've failed.” On the contrary - he's saying, “My work is complete. I've finished what I came to do. I've lived the life to which I was called, and I've set the stage for the salvation of the world.” What Jesus meant was "I've succeeded!" As we remember today his sacrifice, for each one of us, and how it frees us from the burden of everything we do wrong, and all our suffering, we look forward to the day when we too can say, with joy, "it is finished, I've fulfilled my purpose in this world".
