Creator and loving God,
We pray for all people, creatures, and the natural world suffering in this time of extreme heat and wildfires. We remember communities living with the devastation of fires, those who have lost homes or been displaced, and all who face fear, loss, and uncertainty.
We give thanks for the courage and dedication of firefighters, mountain rescue teams, emergency services, land managers, and volunteers who work in dangerous conditions to protect lives, homes, wildlife, and your creation. Keep them safe, strengthen them when they are weary, and grant them wisdom in all they do.
We are sorry for the ways we have contributed to the changing climate. Have mercy on us, and help us to be the people your earth needs us to be living with wisdom, care, and hope.
Bring healing to the land that has been scarred, comfort to those who grieve, and renewal to all creation.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Order Printed Copies of Kairos II: A Moment of Truth: Faith in a time of Genocide
Published in response to the devastating ongoing crisis and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank, the Kairos II document is an urgent, faith-filled cry from Palestinian Christian leaders. It calls the global Church to move past empty rhetoric and step into active, costly solidarity.
One of our dear supporters has worked hard to professionally print full-colour, high-quality A5 booklets with the artworks of renowned Palestinian artist Sliman Mansour, of this important document.
These booklets are an invaluable resource for personal reflection, church study groups, clergy preparation, campaigning and advocacy. Order your copies today to help bring the authentic voice of the Palestinian Church into your local community.
Booklets are free but there is a charge for p&p. Delivery within the UK only.

On Monday, 24 August 2026, Pax Christi International and Pax Christi Asia Pacific are pleased to invite you to the webinar they are co-organising, entitled “Transforming Asia Pacific with Pope Leo’s Magnifica Humanitas“. 🌏
Pope Leo XIV’s latest encyclical draws attention to a culture of power that prioritises the geopolitical and economic interests of a privileged few. Such interests, however, must never be allowed to take precedence over human rights and human dignity.
In the Asia Pacific region, this reflection is particularly timely. Growing geopolitical tensions, strategic competition between major powers, rising military expenditure, and deep social and economic inequalities continue to affect the lives of millions of people. In the light of Magnifica Humanitas, the webinar will provide a space for dialogue on how to promote a just and lasting peace founded on the common good, placing people at the centre rather than the interests of power. 🕊️
📅 24 August 2026
🕟 London 10.00 am; Brussels 11.00 am; Nairobi 12 noon; Mumbai/Colombo 2.30 pm; Jakarta 4.00 pm; Kuala Lumpur/Singapore/Manila 5.00 pm; Tokyo/Seoul 6.00 pm; Melbourne/Sydney 7.00 pm; Suva/Auckland 9.00 pm.

Shared from Christian CND...
The Government has announced a £15 billion defence spending boost to 'keep the UK safe' (read the full announcement here: https://www.gov.uk/.../15-billion-new-funding-boost-to...). Here is our response:

Christian CND doesn't agree that spending £15 billion will 'keep the UK safe'. We believe it would be far more effective and less costly to increase diplomacy and build peace with our global neighbours, including increasing funding for international development. Instead of preparing for the wars of the future, we should be working to avoid wars in the future. We do not need to strengthen our nuclear 'deterrent' but to work towards getting rid of it, as it only fuels the arms race, making war more likely. None of this will help us to tackle the climate emergency - but it will exacerbate it. As for economic growth, investment in other sectors is far more effective, leading to far more jobs (see https://cnduk.org/military-spending-kills-jobs-people/).

Jesus said, 'Blessed are the peacemakers', not the warmongers, and we need to trust him and his words. To spend £15 billion more on 'defence' is an obscene misuse of God-given resources.

Shared from Laudato Si Movement....

There’s something about summer that invites us to slow down.
In Dilexit Nos, Pope Francis invites us to rediscover this profound truth. The Sacred Heart is not simply a devotion from another era. It is an invitation to enter into a living relationship with Christ, whose love remains open to all people and to every aspect of our lives.

✨Pope Francis emphasized that the heart remains the place where we find what matters most. It is there that we discover who we are, how we love, and how God continues to call us.
