Today we remember Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who died four years ago, on this day in 2022.

As a royal church, Westminster Abbey had a special relationship with the Queen. Over the course of her life, she came here often for state occasions and national services, and some of the most important moments of her life took place here.

Join us on Sunday 4 October for a special day bringing together our four churches — Holy Trinity Rothwell, St John Oulton with Woodlesford, Christ Church Lofthouse and St Oswald Methley with Mickletown.

🕙 10.00am–3.00pm

A day to come together, explore our shared faith and mission, and mark the beginning of our Generosity Month. There will be time for fellowship, reflection and worship, including a Eucharist during the day.

🐾🌿 Creation Sunday at St Oswald’s

A wonderfully lively service today as we celebrated God’s creation with our Animal Blessing — welcoming dogs, cats and even tortoises!

Revd Terry reminded us that we are part of creation, not separate from it, and reflected on the joy and companionship animals bring to our lives. He also challenged us to think about our responsibility to help God’s world flourish.

Thank you to everyone who came along — on two legs, four legs or with a shell! 🐶🐱🐢❤️

People’s Emergency Briefing at St Oswald’s

A thought-provoking evening yesterday exploring the climate and nature crisis, followed by refreshments, homemade cake and some great small-group discussions.

We heard about the many things people are already doing — from solar panels, reducing meat consumption and growing food to litter picking, helping wildlife and caring for local habitats.

A key message from the evening was that individual actions matter, but together we can achieve much more. 🌍💚
