Ministry yesterday ended with this reading from Quaker Faith and Practice:

26.70 Give over thine own willing, give over thy own running, give over thine own desiring to know or be anything and sink down to the seed which God sows in the heart, and let that grow in thee and be in thee and breathe in thee and act in thee; and thou shalt find by sweet experience that the Lord knows that and loves and owns that, and will lead it to the inheritance of Life, which is its portion. Isaac Penington, 1661

Saturday 2/11 saw a group of us from Rawdon Meeting joining Friends at Ilkley for a Kindlers workshop on Spirituality. 18 of us , helped by two Kindlers facilitators, explored our understandings of Spirituality and how our actions are shaped by our beliefs. A brilliant day !

The Kindlers are volunteers who aim to deepen the spiritual life of Quaker groups by facilitating reflective workshops, and publishing.

"We are learning to expand our compassion for who we are, just as we find ourselves in all our brokenness and our beauty."

Quakers from around the world gathered in South Africa and online in the first ever blended World Plenary meeting. Held in English, Spanish and KiSwahili, the gathering explored the theme of 'Living the Spirit of Ubuntu'

Songs of Praise recently visited Swarthmoor Hall in Ulverston - the home of Margaret Fell and latterly George Fox, the two people who established Quakers in the mid 17th Century.

Here is a clip from the programme talking about the beliefs of Quakers:

The Peace Museum has reopened at its new premises in Saltaire. Great to see a steady stream of visitors on Sunday afternoon.

Quakers , as one of their key testimonies, hold that peaceful living should be an essential aspect of a faithful life:

In June 1660 Margaret Fell delivered to Charles II a paper directed to the king and both houses of parliament making clear the corporate testimony of Friends ‘against all strife and wars’:

"We are a people that follow after those things that make for peace, love and unity; it is our desire that others’ feet may walk in the same, and do deny and bear our testimony against all strife, and wars, and contentions that come from the lusts that war in the members, that war in the soul, which we wait for, and watch for in all people, and love and desire the good of all… Treason, treachery, and false dealing we do utterly deny; false dealing, surmising, or plotting against any creature upon the face of the earth, and speak the truth in plainness, and singleness of heart."

Curators say the new venue at Salt Mills offers more space to display the collection.
