This was Wally's last message to West Grange Church and possibly now further afield.

This was Palm Sunday and the clocks had gone forward. Wally was due to speak, however when he hadn't arrive by 11:30am friends from the congregation had concerns and called him to check he was ok - we are not sure why he was late, we presumed he had forgotten about the clocks changing. He arrived at 12noon which is normally when the service finishes, some had to leave but most stayed. Wally left his notes in the car and just shared some thoughts from the top of his head. These were his thoughts.

As we said our final goodbyes to Wally Bamford and shed many a tear due to the hole left in many of our our lives. We are thankful for Wally's life, ministry and impact which was so evident by the many people who attended the Thanksgiving service today. Here is a tribute from Howard Newton, that many would be able to echo.

Wally my true friend
Wally, you were a friend to so many people within the fellowship.
You cared about the young and the old. You encouraged teenagers in their faith and walk with God.
You took time to listen to others when they needed it most.
You went out of your way to make newcomers feel warm and welcome.
You and Ann opened your home to young people, tea on a Sunday before a lift back to church for the evening service.
You showed God’s love for us all in the little things you did.
You took time to pray for people, sending a timely card or phone call, just to say “you were missed and thought about”.
Wally you served the church so faithfully for so many years, you were a true friend to us all.
Wally you were my true friend and I will miss you, so many will.
The time has come to say goodbye, Wally my true friend and “old jedi”.

There will be a thanksgiving service for Wally Bamford at West Grange Church on Monday 11th May at 11:30. We expect the building to be full as we appreciate many will want to attend.
