Thomas' has stood as a place of worship, serving the community of Stanningley, since 1841. Details of our services are below. The church is a little unusual in that it does not have a central aisle but two side aisles, similar to a Methodist chapel, reflecting the Methodist influence in Leeds during the mid 19th century. The six stained glass windows are of typical Victorian craftsmanship, the mos
t singular being on the south side, in memory of two young Sunday School teachers who were struck by lightning in 1869 and are buried in the Churchyard. More historical information can be found at www.calverley.info. Meeting in the Church Hall next to the church are several linked groups:
Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Brownies and Rainbows
Mums and Tots (Tuesday and Thursday Mornings)
Chat and Craft (Wednesday Lunch and Afternoon)
For further details of these and other events, please phone and leave a message on 0113 318 3664. The hall is also available to rent (tel 0113 318 3664). We have regular contact with local schools and we welcome visits by arrangement.
