The Hiking Organist: in the Choral Scholars' Own Words.

Cameron has just completed his undergraduate studies at Leeds Conservatoire, throughout which time he has sung as a Bass Choral Scholar at Leeds Minster.

He says: 'Leeds Minster is a welcoming and lively place, full of people who are passionate about what they do. I was a Choral Scholar at the Minster during my undergraduate studies, and my time there was immensely valuable and fulfilling. Being one of the first places I found community after moving to the UK from Australia, the Minster provided a calm and grounding space, where I could continue to develop my practice both as a singer and a musician more broadly. The three weekly services (often with condensed rehearsal time), alongside tours and recordings, provided an exciting rotation of repertoire, frequently exploring contemporary choral works and lesser-known pieces. I’m very grateful to Alex for this opportunity, and hope to see the choral offering at the Minster continue to grow and develop.'

The Minster Choir thoroughly enjoyed singing at All Souls' Church, Little London, yesterday evening, for the Corpus Christi Eucharist with Benediction, featuring music by Haydn, de Severac, Byrd, Elgar, and Ireland. A very beautiful liturgy, wonderful hospitality from All Souls' Church, and as ever lovely to offer our choral and organ music to their generous community.
