Today's ramble was centered on the Mexborough Arms pub on Main Street Thorner where we parked and returned to a delicious lunch visiting Wothersome & Pompocali on the way. We were blessed with lovely weather and surrounded by awesome sights and sounds of Creation. Along the route we came across the unusual sight of beads of Lycogala epidendrum, commonly known as wolf's milk, a type of amoeba often mistaken for a fungus, growing on a rotting log. Various flowers were spotted - blue Germander Speedwell, Red Campion, White Bryony and pink Hawthorn. The early flat green berries of the Wayfaring tree were noticed in the hedgerow. Silky webs of the Spring Ermine Moth. A Red-headed Cardinal beetle. Our next outing will be on Saturday 27th June
