Wortley and Farnley Parish St John's Church is a friendly, welcoming, and growing community of people who are trying their best to follow Jesus. Why don't you come and share the journey?

We gather on Sundays at 9am and 1030am.

You would be so welcome to join us. Welcome to St John's Church in the Parish of Wortley & Farnley. We are growing and friendly church, consisting on a wonderful mix of every age and stage! We're a broad church who relish the journey we are on together with Jesus as we seek to know Him more and live out our faith in our day to day lives. There's something

for everyone going on in Wortley and Farnley. If you prefer calm and dignified our 9am Classical service is for you. If you like energy and a family-friendly environment, then the 1030 Relaxed service is for you. And if you struggle to get out of bed on a Sunday morning, then you can join us for our 10am Online service. If Sundays don't work, then we have a mid-week communion on a Wednesday at 11am followed by lunch. We've also got toddler groups, Messy Church, Friday socials, Tuesday Morning Prayer, and a whole host of other things going on. Our current church building has been here for the past 120 years, and replaced an even older building on the same site - so we've been around for a very long time in our community. We love our parish of Wortley and Farnley and would love to get to know you.

As we hurtle back into the full throttle of term time and our regular timetable….I want to pause and take a moment to give a big high five to our Rev Chris…
He does so much behind the scenes as well as on the front line, helping us grow as a church family and building ties with our wider community.
This hasn't gone unnoticed outside of our church community either.
On Wednesday The White Rosettes presented him with the Alan Peech Award in appreciation of the support he has given the group.

Join us this Sunday at 10am as we prepare for the beginning of a new school year with our special Blessing of the Bags service.

Bring your school bag, work bag, handbag, changing bag, or whatever bag goes with you through the week, and we’ll pray for everyone returning to school, college, university or work.
