Hi everyone, I have arranged for Lion Learners to come along and bring some small animals and different creatures for the children to look at and touch as well.

The lovely Michala will be coming along to deliver 2 sessions on Monday 20th July...10.30am until 11.30am and again 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

This is the last day the children will be in Nursery before we break up for the summer and some of our children leave us to go to school....what a perfect end to another fabulous year in nursery.

It's a really great way to gently introduce a range of different animals to the children in a safe, nurturing way.......she will bring along such things as rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, a big spider and a snake amongst other things.

There are some children who don't come to Nursery on a Monday, but I will be contacting you directly to see if your child would like to attend but we will need a parent/carer to stay with them.

I will add it onto permissions on FAMLY for you to acknowledge your consent for your child to take part...........it is fully risk assessed and we have had them visit nursery lots of times......

Some of the adults may not be as sure about joining in but Jane will definitely be keen to have a go.

DON'T FORGET - tomorrow 17th of June, it's the great Little Owls City and Holbeck toothbrush swap event............come along and bring your old toothbrush and we will give you another one.

We will have some tables set up outside near the office window........so please come up and say hello with those big smiles of yours and collect your new brush.

We will have the swap available between 11.00am and 11.30am then again between 12.30pm and 1.00pm.

Now we all know that Jane loves a song, so if you know the tune for I'm a little teapot"...you can sing along to this:

Dadstastic Day is happening on Father’s Day - Sunday 21st June 2026 from 11am - 4pm at Leeds City Museum and Millennium Square, LS2 8BH. Dads, mums, carers, grandparents, KIDS - everyone is welcome!



It’s a brilliant opportunity for families to spend time together, try something new, and have a joyful, active day out in the heart of Leeds. Babies, toddlers, and children aged up to 11 can enjoy music, dance, science, storytelling, sports, tech and creative arts – all completely free.



Leeds Dads founder Errol Murray said: “Dadstastic Day is about celebrating Father’s Day and we want everyone to enjoy loads of free family fun, courtesy of Leeds Dads. Over two thousand people came last year, so we are looking forward to celebrating Leeds Dads’ 15th anniversary!”

We have had some very rainy days recently, but that doesn't stop us from exploring our outdoor play area.

The children are getting really good at developing their independence skills and putting on and taking off their waterproofs and wellington boots before heading outside.

We have had lots of puddles and the staff introduced baby bubble bath, powder paint and brushes as a provocation for the children to investigate what would happen.

The children were supported by the staff team, who role modelled language and narrated for children during their play.....staff scaffolded the children's language to extend it further and everyone had a FAB time.

Jane has been 🍓 picking this weekend and thought you'd like to see some pictures.

There were lots of juicy, sweet tasty strawberries 🍓 to pick......some were very big and very red.....but there were also lots of them waiting to ripen in the sun.

Jane did taste 👌 one, it was delicious but she also bought and filled a big punnet.

We have 🍓 growing in the nursery garden....we'll have to check them in the morning.

Hi everyone, I have been in a meeting today with a representative from Groundwork who is involved in the Heart of Holbeck project.

There has been a huge amount of money given by the government to invest in the development of our community and to upgrade homes in the area.

You/we are going to have the opportunity to influence and have a voice and opinions in some of the changes and developments particularly around Holbeck Moor itself and the bowling greens.

What sort of things would you like to see in these areas?

We are arranging a date for some of the Groundwork team to be on site to gather your views and opinions............so as soon as we have the date I will let you know........please please come along and take part in this amazing piece of work.

It's an exciting time with lots of great plans for our wonderful community......let's all do our bit.

Hi everyone....the children have had such a lovely time in our "Plant Pot Workshop" today.......the children all created their own pots, chose their own colours, mixed items together and poured into the moulds. Whilst the pots were setting the children had the opportunity to decorate their own flowers to go into their pots.

The children have been excitedly waiting to take part in this activity and tomorrow once the pots are fully set/dry the children will be able to take them home and proudly show them off.

The children were carefully listening to what they needed to do and able to follow instructions and let their own creativity shine through.....well done everyone.

A big thank you to Natasha from Flavour Like Fancy for delivering this workshop for us.....it was FAB.....we loved it.
