Redeemer Leeds

Redeemer Leeds We want to help you explore faith in Jesus, grow in your relationship with him, and enjoy welcoming and deep community. So there will always be a place for you.

Connect with us to help you on your spiritual journey. If you've never been to a church before it can be difficult to know what to expect. At Redeemer we understand that and want to do everything we can to make you feel welcome. There's no dress code so wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We do our best to make sure we speak the same on a Sunday as we do throughout the rest of the week so there

won't be a lot of jargon and if there is something you don't understand, just ask. During the gathering feel free to participate in as little or as much as you feel comfortable with. We have readings and prayers where people can join in, but probably the most unusual thing you'll encounter on a Sunday is that we sing songs together as a church. That said, if you don't know the song or agree with the words there's no pressure for you to join in. We do understand that going to church for the first time can be strange but we want you to feel welcome. After all, churches are just groups of ordinary people coming together to consider, worship, learn about, and follow Jesus. Also, once the gathering has finished there's tea, coffee, and donuts so you really can't go wrong!

Take a look at those who are serving as our City Group Leaders this year... or, at least as many were able to make the group photo!

Being part of a City Group is a key part of experiencing life together at Redeemer. Each week, City Groups eat together, spend time in God's word and seek to encourage one another in following Jesus. If you're exploring Christianity, they are a great context to start making sense of Jesus' claims.

If you'd like to hear more - or you'd like to try out a City Group near you for yourself - feel free to DM us.

On Sunday, we start a new series in Ephesians on Sundays and in City Groups. To help us get deeper into the word, each adult and member of Redeemer Youth will be offered a free Ephesians Journal.

Each term we read a book together across the church. This term we've chosen Tony Merida's "Love Your Church." We're excited about how what we read might grow our commitment to Leeds and to each other!

Copies are available on Sunday at both 4pm and 6.30pm gatherings - at just Β£5 - or Β£3 for those in full time education. A Redeemer-specific study guide comes with it.

Today we have the joy of baptising four people - Miranda, Tom, Catriona and Bodee.

Baptisms are one of the happiest periods of life within a church. If you've never seen one, you'd be welcome to come and celebrate with us!

🚨🚨EXCITING NEWS!🚨🚨

From 6 September, Redeemer will be gathering twice on Sundays. The same sermon, same quality of ministry, same opportunity to meet others - but with far more space.

For months as a church, we've been reflecting on how Jesus has made space for us - now we want to make space for others.

Children's ministry (6 months - 11 years) will operate at the 4pm gathering, youth (11-16 years) at the 6.30pm. In between the gatherings (5.30-6.30pm) we'll enjoy refreshments together as one.

If you've not been at church for a while, we'd love you see you at either 4 or 6.30 from 6 September! πŸ‘‹πŸ™Œ

When did someone love you enough to tell you something hard? On Sunday, Tom reminded us from Revelation 3 that the most loving thing isn't always the easiest thing to hear.

Jesus loved the church at Laodicea enough to rebuke them and call them back to life with him.

Reading the Bible isn't always easy. It doesn't always tell us what we want to hear, reinforcing us in our righteousness. But even words that sting can be a means of our healing when we start to see they come from love.

Yesterday we considered Jesus' words to the church in Philadelphia - small, weak and under tremendous social pressure. It seems all of their effort was required just to keep going.

Jesus' letter is one of the few that brings no critique, correction or rebuke - only encouragement. The thrust is this: that he has the authority to open and shut doors that no-one else has, and he alone has the strength to hold it open.

Jesus' one instruction is: hold on. But that instruction is wrapped around by truths about what himself has done and will do. Which means: when we feel weak - as churches and individuals - our call to hold on is wrapped up in his promise to hold us.

The sermon will be up shortly on our YouTube and Spotify channels if you'd like to catch up or to listen again.
