This Sunday, 24 May, we celebrate the great feast of Pentecost — the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Church — and we would love you to join us.
Pentecost All Age Service - 10.30am this Sunday
During the service we will celebrate the joy and power of the Holy Spirit in a variety of ways, including music, noise, party poppers, and kazoos! During Communion there will also be the opportunity to receive prayer and anointing.
Please do wear red, the liturgical colour of Pentecost, symbolising the fire of God’s love poured out upon the Church.
Most importantly, please continue to pray in the days leading up to Sunday for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us. We need him. Without the life and power of the Spirit, the Church becomes shallow, weak, and morally compromised. Pentecost reminds us that God does not leave his people to struggle alone, but fills and renews them with his own presence.
International Meal After Church
After the service we will gather in the hall for our Pentecost International Meal.
Everyone is invited to bring food representing a country, culture, family tradition, or place of origin — whether that’s something homemade, shop-bought, simple, or elaborate.
If you would like to bring food already prepared before church, you are welcome to drop it off in the hall before the service begins.
We aim to say grace and begin eating sometime between 12.30pm and 12.45pm.
Please remember:
- everyone is welcome, whether or not they bring food.
- nobody should feel they cannot stay
- there will be plenty to share.
Tea and coffee will still be served after the service at the back of church as normal, especially for newcomers and those staying in church while preparations happen in the hall.
Pentecost is the birthday of the Church — a feast of many nations gathered together in the Spirit of God — and we hope this Sunday will reflect something of that joy.
With prayers and every blessing,
Rolf
