Grace over Guilt ✝️

Guilt has a way of asking us to keep paying for something Christ has already dealt with.

It tells us to stay bowed down. To rehearse the failure again. To prove that we're sorry enough. To somehow make ourselves worthy of coming close again.

But the Cross tells another story.

The blood of Christ cleanses the conscience.

Not so that we can become more driven, more anxious or more determined to prove ourselves—but so that we can become free.

So when an old accusation returns, you don't need to negotiate with it.

Return to Jesus.

You don't have to keep paying for what has already been forgiven.

The work is finished. The debt is paid. Lift your head.

Grace over guilt. Always.

The Exchange: Burden for Rest 🌿

There is another gospel exchange we sometimes overlook.

Not only sin for righteousness, but burden for rest.

Jesus doesn't stand at a distance from the exhausted and tell us to become stronger. He invites us towards Himself:

“Come to Me… and I will give you rest.”

Some of us have become so accustomed to carrying things that putting them down can feel almost irresponsible.

The worries. The unanswered questions. The responsibilities. The things we cannot control. Even the expectation that we should somehow be coping better.

But Jesus doesn't ask us to justify our weariness before we come.

Just come.

His heart is gentle. His yoke is kind. His burden is light.

Perhaps today, rest itself can become an act of trust.

“Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Join Cathy and Joe at The Wellspring for a gentle and reflective retreat exploring these words from the Apostle Paul.

In a world that often values strength, control, and self-sufficiency, many of us quietly carry places of weakness—struggles we wish would go away, prayers that seem unanswered, or limitations we cannot overcome. Yet this retreat offers a different perspective: that these very places may become the meeting ground of God’s grace and power.

Retreat areas will be available both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Numbers are limited to 15 to ensure a peaceful atmosphere, allowing personal space for reflection.

Grace and the Quiet Yes 🌿

Sometimes we imagine faith requires a great act of courage.

But sometimes faith is simply the next quiet yes.

Yes, Lord.
I'll trust You here.
I'll take this step.
I'll follow where You're leading.

And we don't have to wait until we feel strong enough to say it.

God's grace comes first. Before our response, before our achievement, before anything we could do to earn His favour—there is grace.

So if God is inviting you forward today, perhaps you don't need strength for the whole journey.

Just offer Him your small yes.

Let grace do the heavy lifting.

Called by grace. Carried by grace.

Lasting change is not forced—it is formed.

God works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.

If you’ve been trying to change through pressure, pause. Invite God’s kindness into the habit you’re struggling with.

Grace trains us—not with shame, but with love.

Grace for the Next Step

Sometimes the future feels overwhelming because we're trying to carry too much of it at once.

The coming year. The unanswered question. The difficult decision. The thing we cannot yet see our way through.

But God doesn't ask us to live tomorrow today.

Scripture tells us that He is able to make all grace abound toward us, so that we have what we need, when we need it.

So if the horizon feels too large, make it smaller.

Don't ask, How am I going to manage all of this?

Ask instead:
What is the next faithful step?

And take that step with Him.

Grace meets you there.

Today's portion is enough.

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Identity: Hidden with Christ

There are so many ways we try to make ourselves secure.

Achievement. Approval. Recognition. Being needed. Having everything under control.

But Scripture points us somewhere deeper:

“Your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

Hidden doesn't mean insignificant or unseen. It means secure.

Your deepest identity is held in Christ—beyond accusation, beyond changing circumstances, beyond the things you achieve or fail to achieve.

So perhaps today you can loosen your grip a little.

Practise hiding—not from life, but in Christ.

Safe. Held. Kept.

Freedom to Receive Help

Freedom includes freedom to need.

Pride says, “I can manage.” Grace says, “Look up.”

Lift your eyes to the hills—your help comes from the Lord.

Today, receive help: from God in prayer, and from others in humility. This is not weakness; it is wisdom.

A Softened Heart 🌿

Transformation does not always happen through effort. Sometimes it begins when we become quiet enough to receive.

“Be still and know that I am God.”

Not a demand to empty our minds or manufacture peace, but an invitation to stop striving and become attentive again to the God who is already present.

Perhaps take just two minutes today. Sit quietly. Notice your breath. Bring whatever is occupying your thoughts before God without needing to resolve it.

In the hush, the heart softens. In the stillness, love becomes audible.

Let grace do its slow work.

“Be still and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Christ Alone, Not Self-Alone 🌿

Jesus never asked us to produce the Christian life through sheer determination.

The branch bears fruit because it remains connected to the vine. So do we.

When we find ourselves exhausted by striving, perhaps the invitation isn't to try harder, but to return—to abide, receive and depend again.

Today, let dependence become an act of worship.

Christ alone is enough—and He is with you.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5
