As part of Dying Matters week 2026, we’re opening our doors to everyone in the community on Saturday 9th May, 10:00am – 1:00pm, and you’re warmly invited to come along.

The theme of this year's Dying Matters week is “Let’s talk about Death and Dying” — conversations that can feel difficult, but ones that really matter. What better way to do this than joining us for our open day.

This will be a relaxed and welcoming opportunity to:
• Take a behind-the-scenes tour of our facilities
• See the opening of our baby memorial garden
• Ask any questions you may have
• Speak with our experienced and compassionate team
• Paint a memory stone
• Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a cake
• Explore the grounds at your own pace

There’s no need to book — simply come along when it suits you.

We hope you’ll join 💚

There are some lovely signs of spring beginning to appear across the grounds at Oakley Wood.

Snowdrops and Snakeshead Fritillaries are starting to come through, along with other early blooms in the woodland.

We wanted to share a few recent photographs from around the site.

A little sign that spring is on its way…

The snowdrops are out at Oakley Wood and looking beautiful across the grounds. Their delicate white flowers bring a touch of brightness and calm to this time of year, and we thought you might like to see them too.

If you’re visiting, keep an eye out along the paths — they’re starting to pop up everywhere 🤍

Important Notice – Severe Weather ❄️
We would like to make our visitors aware that severe weather is forecast overnight and into tomorrow, which may result in difficult travel conditions, including heavy rain, snow, strong winds and icy roads.
We know how important it is for families and friends to be able to attend funerals and arrive safely and with peace of mind 🤍. With this in mind, we kindly ask everyone who is due to visit Oakley Wood Crematorium to allow extra time for their journey and take additional care when travelling 🚗💨.
If you are unable to attend a service due to the weather, please contact your funeral director, as it may be possible to arrange a webcast so you can still watch the service from home
Your safety is our priority, and we would hate for anyone to miss an important service due to unforeseen delays. Please check the latest local weather and travel updates before setting out 🌧️❄️.
Thank you for your understanding, and please take care 💙

As we close for the Christmas break, we would like to take a moment to thank the families and members of our community who have placed their trust in our staff throughout the year.

We recognise that the Christmas period holds different meanings for different people, and for many it can be a time of reflection. Our thoughts are with all those remembering loved ones, and we hope the days ahead bring comfort and peace.

19/12/2025

Over the holiday period, our grounds will remain open every day, offering a quiet place to visit and remember.

The Chapel of Remembrance will be open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm for anyone who would like to spend time thinking of loved ones, leave cards, or view the Book of Remembrance, which will be open on the relevant day each day.

At this time of year, we send our very best wishes to all families and members of our community, wherever you may be, and hope the season brings comfort and peace.

🌿 A Kind Reminder from Oakley Wood Crematorium 🌿

Oakley Wood is a special place — a peaceful woodland where many families have chosen to lay their loved ones to rest. We know the surrounding woods are also a popular spot for dog walking, and we’re happy for people to enjoy the beauty of the area.

However, we’ve noticed some dogs being allowed to run freely in the crematorium grounds and over our scattering areas, where ashes have been placed. Many people don’t realise that the areas surrounding our carparks are resting places.

Please help us keep Oakley Wood a place of peace and respect by keeping dogs away from these areas and using the woodland carpark for the purposes of dog walking. Signs are displayed to help guide visitors, and we kindly ask everyone to take a moment to honour the space and those remembered here.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us protect this tranquil woodland. 💚🐾
