Hope is ...... a very special thing.

A Million Acts of Hope is a national invitation to celebrate the everyday acts of kindness, care and connection happening across the UK. At a time when division can feel loud, we want to bring together all these everyday acts of hope and shine a light on the people and communities making them happen.

Where do you go to find or share hope?
Join in the thank you for all the people and places that offer & share Hope.

The Virtual Village Hall is a free online activity hub and community. It’s designed by the charity, Royal Voluntary Service, to help people stay mentally and physically active, socially connected and having fun. It supports people to better manage their health, including long-term health conditions and healthy ageing.

Free activity sessions to try
The Virtual Village Hall (VVH) offers live activity sessions every weekday via Facebook, YouTube and the VVH website, and there’s an extensive archive of more than 3,000 sessions to view on demand. Imagine visiting a typical community centre or village hall, just online!

Activities include gentle exercise and dance classes, with adapted, seated and chair-based sessions, yoga and meditation, crafts and cooking, creative writing, interesting talks and more. All designed to support adult learning in a friendly, relaxed setting. These free classes offer a great way to keep learning, moving and having fun from home.

For the next 3 months, Healthwatch Warwickshire will be listening to people’s experiences of using the NHS 111 service or visiting an Urgent Care Centre or Minor Injuries Unit.

NHS 111 helps people to get the right physical or mental health advice and treatment when they urgently need it.

Urgent Care Centres, otherwise known as Minor Injuries Units, can be used by patients over the age of five with minor injuries or illnesses. Trained nursing staff can provide an assessment and give advice and treatment which could include X-rays or pharmacy.

Visit our website for info on how to share your experiences of:
-NHS 111
-Urgent Treatment Centres
-Minor Injuries Units
with us, on our anonymous survey.

Energy saving tips to make your home warmer for less this winter

Want to make your home more energy efficient and save money at the same time? By taking a few small steps, you could cut your annual energy bills by around £100.

1. Reduce your boiler flow temperature
Most combi boilers are set too high. Lowering the flow temperature to 60°C makes your boiler run more efficiently and could save you money. If you’re over 65, have young children, or health conditions, just make sure your home stays warm enough.

2. Find and fix draughts
Check for gaps around doors, windows, floors and pipes. Look out for light shining through, listen for rattles on windy days, or feel for moving air. Seal what you can, but don’t block essential ventilation like extractor fans.

3. Turn radiators down, not off
If you’re not using a room much, turn the radiator down a notch rather than switching it off completely. This helps avoid damp while still saving energy.

You can also cut costs by installing a free smart meter, which helps track energy use in real time, and by checking your tariff to see if you could switch to a cheaper deal.

Does your house suffer from damp, mould and condensation expecially around this time of year?
Cadent have put together supporting information as well as their new project of FREE wash rooms for the community. Check out the link below for more information and keep an eye out for more wash rooms coming up in the near future.

Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of our campaign to support people living in mould and damp conditions.

From working with Groundwork and Cadent Foundation to produce tips on how to live safely at home, to piloting the launch of new Warm Wash Rooms at our Centres for Warmth, we’re here to support you this winter.
