Lavenham Church

Lavenham Church Lavenham's Church of St Peter and St Paul is probably the last of the great Suffolk 'wool churches', completed in 1530 - just before the reformation.

There has been a church on this site since Saxon Times, however the glorious building of cathedral-like proportions that we have today is mainly dating from around 1525 at the height of Lavenham's period of prosperity as a wool-cloth manufacturing town. Although the chancel dates from c1340, and this replaced and earlier wooden church. The church, which incorporates a wealth of carving in both oak

and stone, was financed by the Earl of Oxford - Lord of the Manor - and a number of wealthy cloth merchants, including the immensely rich Thomas Spring III. http://www.achurchnearyou.com/lavenham-st-peter-st-paul/

We do not usually have a chance to see these medieval figures close up because they are high in the rafters. But thanks to Steve Jones and his camera drone we can appreciate these images. Who do the carvings represent?
