rticularly for weddings, funerals and christenings, we stay with you for more than just the day. If you live in Launceston Area, you are entitled to be married, Christened or hold a funeral and burial in your local church. Often, if you live in a different area, permission can be given so please ask if we can help. Especially for funerals, we walk with you through your grief journey and can be alongside you for as long as you need. The service will not be a 30 minute timed-and-out-the-door - you can take the time you need.

How wonderful to see the tireless volunteers at Community Money Advice centre celebrated. They make real change for many people locally. Thank you all!

Last week as part of Volunteers’ Week 2026, Community Money Advice Launceston celebrated the incredible people who give their time to support others across the local community.

This year marks the 42nd anniversary of Volunteers’ Week, a national celebration recognising the huge contribution volunteers make to charities and organisations across the UK.

Community Money Advice Launceston says its volunteers have helped support more than 850 local families and assisted with over £4 million worth of debt support across Launceston and the surrounding areas.

Centre Manager Sarah Vinson said:
“Being in debt can be a frightening experience and many try to ignore money problems. Being free from debt takes a huge weight off people’s shoulders and provides them hope for the future. We simply could not provide such services without these incredible volunteers selflessly giving their time.”

To mark last week, the charity hosted a Coffee and Cake morning for volunteers alongside invited members of the local community including Mayor Cllr Nicola Gilbert.

Newly appointed Administrator Gemma Massey also praised the dedication of volunteers, highlighting the support given not only within Community Money Advice Launceston, but also through partner organisations including Launceston Foodbank and Love Thy Neighbour.

Volunteers’ Week has been running nationally since 1984 and celebrates the vital role volunteers play in strengthening communities and supporting charities across the country.
