✝️ 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗭𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗙𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦 𝟭𝟴 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗨𝗟 𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗦?

The Our Father is more than a prayer—it is the perfect prayer taught by Jesus Himself. Within its few lines are profound spiritual truths that guide the entire Christian life.

Here are eighteen elements found in the Lord's Prayer:

✝️ 𝟭. 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 — "Our Father"
We acknowledge God as our loving Father and ourselves as His children.

✝️ 𝟮. 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗚𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — "Who art in heaven"
We recognize God's majesty and transcendence.

✝️ 𝟯. 𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — "Hallowed be Thy name"
We praise and honor God's holy name.

✝️ 𝟰. 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — "Thy Kingdom come"
We long for the coming of God's Kingdom.

✝️ 𝟱. 𝗢𝗕𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 — "Thy will be done"
We submit ourselves to God's will.

✝️ 𝟲. 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 — "On earth as it is in heaven"
We pray that all creation may obey God.

✝️ 𝟳. 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗬 — "Thy will be done"
We seek to align our lives with God's plan.

✝️ 𝟴. 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — "Give us this day"
We humbly bring our needs before God.

✝️ 𝟵. 𝗗𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 — "Daily bread"
We trust God for each day's provisions.

✝️ 𝟭𝟬. 𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 — "Our daily bread"
We acknowledge our dependence on God.

✝️ 𝟭𝟭. 𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 — "Forgive us our trespasses"
We admit our sins and seek God's pardon.

✝️ 𝟭𝟮. 𝗢𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — "As we forgive"
We accept our duty to forgive others.

✝️ 𝟭𝟯. 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 — "Those who trespass against us"
We extend mercy as we have received mercy.

✝️ 𝟭𝟰. 𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗬 — The spirit of reconciliation throughout the prayer
We imitate the mercy of God.

✝️ 𝟭𝟱. 𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 — "Lead us not into temptation"
We ask God to guide and strengthen us.

✝️ 𝟭𝟲. 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — "Temptation"
We recognize the reality of spiritual testing.

✝️ 𝟭𝟳. 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — "Deliver us from evil"
We ask for protection and final perseverance.

✝️ 𝟭𝟴. 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗘𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 — The goal of the entire prayer
We seek to live as faithful children of God.

✝️ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗪𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡?

The Our Father teaches us:
✝️ Who God is.
✝️ Who we are.
✝️ What we should desire.
✝️ How we should live.
✝️ What we should ask for.

No other prayer so perfectly summarizes the Gospel and the Christian life.

✝️ "This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father..."

✝️ 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦: 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗕𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗬 𝗚𝗢𝗗

Priests are often seen at the altar, in the confessional, at the bedside of the sick, and in countless moments of service. Because of their sacred vocation, it is easy to forget that they are also human beings.

They are not machines programmed to work endlessly without rest, emotion, or struggle.

They are men whom God has called from among His people to serve His Church.

✝️ 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗦

Like everyone else, priests experience joy and sorrow, encouragement and disappointment, strength and weakness.

They carry their own crosses while helping others carry theirs.

✝️ 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗥𝗦

The spiritual battles faced by priests are often unseen.

As shepherds of souls, they need the support of the faithful through prayer, sacrifice, and encouragement.

✝️ 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗨𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦

Through their ministry, we receive Baptism, the Holy Eucharist, Confession, Anointing of the Sick, and countless spiritual blessings.

Their vocation is a gift to the Church.

✝️ 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢𝗢

While priests are called to serve generously, they also need understanding, kindness, and gratitude.

A simple word of encouragement can strengthen a weary shepherd.

✝️ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗪𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡?

✝️ Priests are ordinary men entrusted with an extraordinary mission.

✝️ They need prayer as much as those they serve.

✝️ Their humanity does not diminish their vocation.

✝️ God works through human weakness to accomplish His will.

✝️ We should support and encourage our priests with gratitude and love.

✝️ 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥

Behind every collar is a man who has left much behind to follow Christ.

Behind every homily, confession, and Mass is a soul striving to be faithful to God's call.

Pray for your priests.

Encourage your priests.

Support your priests.

For they are not machines—they are human beings called by God.

Congratulations to T on receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time with Fr. Peter RC Largs & Millport

This special milestone marks an important step in T’s faith journey. We are proud of her preparation and participation and pray that she continues to grow in God’s love and grace.

To meet insult with insult only perpetuates evil. To meet it with love and prayer overcomes evil with good. Christ asks us to abide in His love, which means to live and react from within that love in the face of all. Such is the nature of the Cross, such is the nature of true love, such is the nature of God.

The Church is a Holy Nation. The Gospel is our constitution. Christ is our King. The Cross is our banner. Love is our weaponry. Prayer is our conversation. The Mass is our food and drink. Easter is our National Day. The Spirit is our Unity, our Life and our Joy. The Father is our destiny. Eternity is our glory.

It is he who forgives all your guilt, who heals every one of your ills, who redeems your life from the grave, who crowns you with love and compassion. NEVER doubt His love for you no matter the sin on your soul or sorrow in your heart. Go to Him and let Him love you!

St. Barnabas is the “son of encouragement”, glad when he sees what is good in us, exhorting us to be steadfast of purpose. In times of discouragement or doubt, pray to him for the grace of an uplifted heart and for eyes to see the hope ahead, Christ our Lord!
