The Narrow Way

Reading: Matthew 7:13-14

Devotional: Jesus declared that the gate to life is straight and the way is narrow, and few there be that find it. This is not a discouraging statement but an urgent one. The narrowness of the way does not reflect God's unwillingness to save but rather the exclusivity of truth itself. Truth, by its very nature, is singular. There are not many truths competing for your soul. There is one. Everything outside that line of truth is variation and error. The question is not whether the narrow way exists. The question is whether you have entered it.

Practical Application: Examine honestly whether you are on the narrow way or simply familiar with it. Familiarity with the road is not the same as walking on it.

When Everything Looks Dead
Reading: John 11:25-26

Devotional: Those who buried Jesus had no expectation of resurrection. They wrapped his body in linen, packed it with spices, sealed the tomb, and went home to grieve. From every human vantage point, it was over. Yet God was not finished. The same is true in your life. The relationship that feels irreparable, the dream that seems buried, the season of grief that feels permanent -- none of these are beyond the reach of the God who raises the dead. He is not intimidated by death. He is not surprised by your circumstances. He is already working beyond what your eyes can see.

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

If you want to have life as Jesus offered, it is found only through Him. Jesus came to this earth, died for the sins of mankind and rose again. Anyone who will humbly come to Christ asking for forgiveness and salvation through Him will be saved. Then abundant life is experienced as a believer. That person who was spiritually dead is made alive and is a recipient of eternal life through Christ.
