The Holmes Chapel knitters have been busy again. They always create a colourful display around the village and in the churchyard at Christmas. Most of our church members are now of an age when we are invited to spend Christmas at sons and daughters houses, so those that remain at home are invited to worship with our Anglican friends, as we pray for healing for the sick, comfort for the sad, company for the lonely, and peace for those at war, and so a joyful time for all.
As I cycled along Morecambe prom the other day against a strong headwind I was reminded of a favourite Celtic blessing. "May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine upon your face, the rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand"

The Holmes Chapel knitters have been busy decorating the village and the churchyard for Christmas. They always put on a colourful show.
Our own church members are mostly of an age now, when we are invited to sons and daughters houses for Christmas, so the few remaining in Hest Bank are invited to join with our Anglican friends for Christmas worship, as we pray this Christmas, for healing for the sick, comfort for the sad, company for the lonely and peace for those at war, and a joyful time for all.

Gardens are untidy at the moment, but there's often a little bit of a last flower tucked away somewhere. I love it thatcome Spring all the untidiness, or most of it, will ahve disappeared. The little creatures and the fungi are busy chomping away at the dead leaves, and by Spring everything will look fresh and clean again ready for the snowdrops and daffodils, one of natures miracles to enjoy.
Our service tomorrow is at 11am. in the church hall. Come and join us.

I enjoyed a walk today in lovely mild Autumn weather, great to see the lovely russet colours of the bracken, and the cheeky little robin who was not phased by our presence.
Our worship tomorrow at 11.00 in the church hall is themed on Autumn. Why not come and join us.

If you need a moment of calm, the following is a prayer written by St. Teresa of Avila in the 16th century
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing away.
God never changes
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing,

Spotted on a gate in Silverdale “the comfort of having a friend may be taken from you, but the comfort of having HAD a friend cannot be taken away”.

Treasured memories are good to hold onto.

We are all longing to sing in church. There are no constraints on wild creatures. We were treated to a wonderful concert by a visiting thrush when we looked out of our window on Sunday morning. Hopefully, we shall sound as joyful when we begin to sing again.
