MEET THE COURT 2026

Lanimer Queen
St Mary’s Primary School

Hi, I’m Ayda and I go to St Mary’s Primary School in Lanark. I really enjoy school, especially learning about new things and spending time with my friends. When I’m not at school I spend most of my time with animals. I have dogs, budgies, a hamster, and a horse, so there is always something keeping me busy! Horse riding is one of my favourite things to do and I compete in jumping competitions. I love being at the stables and riding with my friends whenever I can. I’m also part of the Lanark and District Pipe Band where I play the tenor drum. I really enjoy being in the band and taking part in events and parades with everyone. I’m quite a social person and love spending time with my friends. A lot of the time we end up back at the stables riding our horses, chatting and having lots of fun together. Since being chosen as Lanimer Queen, I have really enjoyed getting to know the rest of the Lanimer Court and the Principals. It has been really exciting so far and everyone has been so friendly. I’m really looking forward to the year ahead and all the experiences that come with being Lanimer Queen. I can’t wait for Lanimer Week and to see the town full of people celebrating. I will miss taking part in the procession with The Broons this year, but it is a huge honour to be Lanimer Queen. One of my favourite Lanimer traditions is the Tuesday night ride out. I especially love going to the racecourse and watching the horse chases, which is always really exciting. I feel very proud to be Lanimer Queen and I’m really looking forward to being part of such a special tradition in Lanark and sharing it with everyone in the community.
