New Setting
Our “trial” of a new, modern setting for the Eucharist continues. Music will be provided for those who can read it. John Wilcox has sourced Youtube links to the various pieces for those of you who can’t read the music. I will forward his email with the links to you separately. Please familiarise yourselves with it in advance of tomorrow. It is a very catchy setting, which will be very easily learned over the next couple of weeks. Good luck.

We'd like to say a big thank you to Christ Church, Lanark and everyone in the church community for the fantastic support they continue to give our Lanark service. 💙

Every Monday, members of the church come along with soup, cake and, just as importantly, time for a chat with the people we support.

Their support doesn't stop there. The church also provides starter packs for people moving into their new homes, filled with some of the essential items they need to get settled. One of the parishioners also repairs and donates bicycles, giving people the chance to get out and about and make the most of their local community.

💙It's this kind of kindness, practical support and community connection that can make such a difference.

New Setting
As of this Sunday we will “trial” a new setting for the Eucharist. Music will be provided for those who can read it. It is a very catchy setting, which will be very easily learned over the next couple of weeks. Good luck.

Away Giving Collection
This coming Sunday, being the last Sunday of the calendar month, all our giving in the open plate will be ringfenced for our current Away Giving Campaign in support of Social Bite. Please come armed with some extra cash for this very worthy cause.

Lanark Assembly English Country Dance Group
The above Group will have their monthly meeting in the church hall on Tuesday 1 September from 2 pm until 5 pm. All welcome.

Memory Lane
Our Dementia Support Group, Memory Lane, will meet in the church hall this Wednesday from 1 pm until 3 pm.
In addition to a lovely afternoon tea, there will be a fun sing song!

Lanarkshire Regional Council
The council will meet in the church on Wednesday 2 September from 7 pm until 9 pm.

Hall Renovations
Over the next fortnight the church hall is going to be rather chaotic as the re-roofing, solar panel fitting and ceiling lowering projects get underway. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Choral Evensong
One of our number attended a beautiful Choral Evensong service last week at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh. The service was recorded and will be broadcast on Sunday evening at 6 pm on BBC Radio 3. If you are an aficionado of Evensong this might be worth tuning into!

Recent months have been a time of beginnings and endings for me. In June my grand-daughter Emily was born; in July my Aunt Ann died. I would like to say a huge thank you for all the cards and gifts I received in the first instance, and for the cards and other expressions of sympathy that came my way in the second. Dear Christ Church

President & Preacher
This Sunday our new Diocesan Bishop, The Rt Revd Dr Nicholas Bundock, will preside, preach, confirm and receive.

After the service
…the Bishop will perform a ceremonial throwing of old slates into a skip in the back garden of the Rectory to mark the start of our Hall and Rectory reroofing projects. Thereafter there will be a celebration lunch in the hall.

Steward on duty at Lanark
The Steward on duty at Lanark will be: Irene Bryce.

Memory Lane
Our Dementia Support Group will meet in the church hall on Wednesday from 1 pm until 3 pm. This week, in addition to a lovely scone and cake tea, there will be entertainment from Louis and Addi.

Rector’s Holiday
The Rector will be taking a summer break as of Wednesday morning. In his absence, pastoral emergencies should be directed to the curate, The Revd Jackie. The Sunday services will be staffed by the team.

Tin Can Collection for Ukraine
Our collecting for this has now come to an end. Many, many thanks to those of you who cleaned, de-labelled and brought in the impressive number of cans that we collected and donated to this cause. The Congregation of St Nicholas Parish Church were delighted with our contribution.

Last Sunday Collection
This Sunday, being the last in the calendar month, all our giving in the open plate will be ringfenced for our current away giving campaign in support of Water Aid.

Confirmations/Receptions
The Bishop will be with us next Sunday - Sunday 5 July - to confirm one candidate and to receive two others from our congregation. After the service there will be a celebration lunch in the hall. Please turn out ‘en force’ for this important moment in our church calendar. Bobby Burgon has informed the new Bishop that we are “the best kept secret in the Diocese”. Let’s not disappoint him!!!

Training for Confirmation/Reception candidates
To help our candidates to get the most out of the forthcoming confirmation/reception service Jackie and I are planning a training session in the church hall on Tuesday 30 June from 11 am until 12.30 pm.

Tin Can Collection for Ukraine
In addition to our 6 other congregational collections in support of excellent charities Vestry has agreed to support a further collection for an equally excellent cause – Ukraine. In conjunction with St Nicholas Parish Church we would like to ask you to save and bring in used, cleaned and de-labelled tin cans and pop them in the box in the Memorial Chapel. These will be collected by Isobel Malcolm and taken to St Nicholas, where they will be sent to Ukraine to be turned into candle holding heaters for Ukrainians who find themselves homeless and cold as a result of the ongoing war with Russia.

Our Current Away Giving Campaign.
In this quarter of the year we are collecting money for Water Aid. Please give as generously as you possible can to this very worthy cause.

The Clanking Stank!!
As I type, the clanking stank, which has caused quite a bit of noise pollution and prayer disruption at Christ Church for some time, is being repaired as I type. Fingers crossed they remove the three way traffic lights before Sunday!
